I reviewed in depth the rationale for the amount of B12 that is effective and found it to not be based on credible science, specifically retention times based on the general population and no knowledge base on how the injection is used by the body at the cellular level with regards to frequency. The method to determine retention times is the same as medication. Vitamins are not medication just because they are injected. This seems to be a mind block for physicians and lay people alike.

It was in part the many people that shared they injected more than recommended. This did not prove that the body uses B12 for 4 to 6 hours. It did prove to me that the most robust protocol that exists in the world EOD is flawed. So I worked on how it was flawed.

In April of 2023 I injected 2 mg three times a day and the increased effectiveness was dramatic. Everything works for me, not resulting in a result I want or accept. For me it is about effectiveness. I do understand that it takes years to treat B12 deficiency with current understanding and current protocol sometimes fails. It does not follow that is as good as I can do. It is also very likely I would have been deemed as not being able to recover completely which is likely true with current understanding and treatment other than injecting every 5 hours including setting an alarm to inject at night.

In September 2023 I injected 2 mg every 4 hours and the effectiveness was dramatic. This was based on my hypothesis that frequency was important as how my body used an injection was not known and subject to conjecture.

On December 11 2023 I kept the dosage the same and injected every 5 hours including setting my alarm to wake up and inject.

It was a hard decision to make due to my concern about the effects on my sleep by setting my alarm to wake up to inject. I was concerned that the effect would be negative and I would have to deal with recovering from that negative experience. I did not get to feeling this well without taking risks. Looking back the fear of taking the risk was based much on trusting others that do not know what it takes to heal. It is much about the risk was greater because I was ill.

The effectiveness was again dramatic. The improvement when injecting the same amount but every 5 hours is life changing for the better.

Although the effectiveness was dramatic it was not easy. It was overwhelming to have my neurologic system function in the way it now does. The cause was improved self-treatment.

About overwhelming. It was overwhelming it was not that I was overwhelmed. It was not reversing out which I experienced when under supplementating.

I once flew to Quito Ecuador which is at 9000 feet. Hung around for 10 days and then found a place to live on the coast at 0 feet. Rode 14 hours on a bus with live chickens, no bathroom, no AC and I do not speak Spanish. That was not overwhelming. However traveling from 0 feet to 9000 with friends was. It was physical, the same as my improved self-treatment.

Often the solution when a person is overwhelmed is to give advice. Your plate is full, pace, drink water, get sleep, bla bla bla. All you can do is be present and hopefully not think you have the superpower to feel what anyone else is feeling. You can only feel your own emotions. Sometimes you can do a task for the person that is helpful. Let them decide if it is helpful or it is all about you and not them. You do not know what is helpful. I have people in my life that can face it is OK that I am overwhelmed.

The first two weeks were rough. I thought of going back to my former self-treatment. Not that I did not trust my hypothesis, it was just plain hard. It was overall positive, nothing was the same as everything was improving.

I did skip some doses. In part it was I still had in my head the common belief injected B12 is effective for longer than 4 to 6 hours. It may have been on some level I wanted to slow down healing as it was disruptive.

I did discover that if I skipped a dose I could not tell until I took two doses (10 hours) then I could tell when my body started to heal again after having missed a dose. That was disruptive. Once I was more vigilant than that was in my past.

I did discover that my body can be healing and I do not know it as I am so used to being B12 deficient and the body does not send minor signals.

I did yesterday skip a dose as I was doing ‘stuff’ with much more ease and forgot that I experienced effects of being B12 deficient and under supplementation. I started injecting every 5 hours again and there was a slight downturn which went away after 10 hours once my body started to heal again.

It settled down a bit and 30 days later I am still improving. It is easier to deal with as I get used to the improvement to my neurological system. I still need a lot of rest and sleep due to my neurological system healing.

The following are not relevant to my hypothesis: NA means it does not contradict or relate to my hypothesis. NA also is related to if true it is not part of my decision as to how to self treat. NA does not mean that not meaningful to future official treatment protocols or to an individual, just has no effect on my improved self treatment, was not part of how I discovered my hypothesis or chose is test my hypothesis.

NA. It is possible that a person could heal by injecting say EOD. My hypothesis if true would mean they can heal eventually with B12 injections that last 4 to 6 hours EOD or other protocol.

NA.We are all different except we are all the same in that all we can do is find what works.

NA. Could be length of time or severity of symptoms has an effect.

NA. If you have not injected as I have and have not injected every 5 hours including setting an alarm to wake up and inject your understanding is NA. Including if you healed after years or if you have been deemed and accept as having to experience symptoms/damage your whole life.

NA. There are many issues that any of us might experience due to how different cells utilize B12.

It may just be that I have a different standard of what is acceptable AKA what works.

I accomplished being symptoms free as defined by symptoms associated with B12 about 7 months ago. I decided to try and go beyond that standard.

Innovation is not modification. The only innovation in treatment in the last 60 years is the EOD protocol. Modifying that with more injections is just a modification.

Using hydroxocobalamin instead of cyanocobalamin which is done in the UK, may be an innovation. That is unknowable as that happened at the same time as the EOD protocol.

The hypothesis that B12 is used by the body effectively for 4 to 6 hours is an innovation/discovery if correct. It also should affect treatment if correct.

You see, innovation is about making different assumptions. In this case not trusting others assumptions of people who get paid to treat B12 deficiency or those who claim everyone will heal just as they did over time. AKA experts. I did this based on reading, critical thinking and imagination.

A large part of my work is deconstruction which is used in critical thinking. In order to deconstruct I have to first understand what is accepted as true which is really conjecture.

Although my hypothesis is not related to amount or form I did try reducing to 1 mg per injection and improvement decreased in hours.

Now I am not indicating that my hypothesis is proved. Pretty much if you have not made a choice to find out you do not know. Not evangelical or instructing just sharing.

I believe that there is a perception of ‘a lot’ of B12 based on it is mixed with saline and the ‘a lot’ is perceived by physicians and lay people alike on the ML that is needed to dissolve the B12. B12 is somewhat soluble in saline.

I inject 8 mg daily. Or one gram every 125 days or 3 grams per year.

My current self treatment might be seen as radical. Then again EOD is radical other than the UK and injecting more than 1 mg EOD is seen as radical and dangerous by some.

I do not expect to make any more discoveries as I am not doing the work to make that possible. With my current level of understanding deconstructing is not as laborious as it has been for the last 3 years.

Utilizing my hypothesis that there can be more improvement other than symptom reduction and that improvement that the body does not signal that improvement with the same intensity as symptom reduction I will design my next trial based on that understanding.

Might try every four hours. That would mean getting up twice in the night to inject or allowing my body to experience the see saw of enough B12 and then not enough. In a real way I do not want to do a trial of every 4 hours because if it works that will be very hard to keep up.

I was thinking that I should wait until my body has healed using my current regiment. That is in conflict with my hypothesis that the body adjusts to any amount of B12 except when severely deficient. That adjustment becomes the new normal. I may just be at a new normal. However my body is still healing.

If my hypothesis is correct and applied to the EOD protocol amount than .50 mg a day spread over injections of 5 hours apart would be more effective. That would of course as a practical matter require dilution of the B12 as you can not inject only .1 mg as it is not practical.

I have wondered if a more diluted solution with the same amount of B12 by weight might be more effective as it mimics more closely how the body experiences injection of B12.

It is subjective but it seems to me when I am sleeping is when my body can best use B12 to heal. I could not be aware of that when under supplementing.

Although I am currently experiencing better than weekly improvement I am evaluating weekly as daily would likely be crazy making for me. It would not have any more value to me.

Summary: Sucked to be me when under supplementing. Sucked a little less the more I supplemented. Injecting 2 mg every 4 hours sucks more than every 5 hours.

In the future I may write a top ten list of what I don’t miss when I was using my other protocols and what I enjoy about my current self treatment.

Hi Wiz

Sounds like you’ve nailed it!

The missing dose effect and nighttime healing very resonant. I am finding 4 x1500ug every four hours is my optimal regime for now. I can’t go 5 hours during the day when I am working. Thank you for sharing as always most generous.

Hats off to you, you trailblazer!

I does feel like I am headed in a much more positive direction.

Pretty huge accomplishment on your part to self treat in a way that gives you the opportunity to work with the knowledge that you have a regiment that is at least somewhat predictable! Good on you!

Also helpful as my activity is starting to increase which may change things for me.

Thank you for your reply.

I have a hard time emotionally writing now as I can imagine me reading what I write a year ago and thinking "Will you stop! I need to know how to not suffer and am not interested in your success or hypothesis.

Hi Wiz

I get the emotional responsibility aspect but don’t forget that I read your posts last year when I felt like I was dying and all I could do was cry, I was completely lost.

It was reading all the different approaches and perspectives shared in this forum that gave me hope and the confidence to self treat.

First, I accept no emotional responsibility other than for me. 🙂

I believe you wrote. There's no way you could handle injecting more than once a day.

Hi Wiz

Yes, I did! In the early days when I trusted the medics to know best …. when I had no idea of the difference coping with a needle phobia would make … before I was inspired!

I wrote that I am not about to set an alarm and get up in the night and inject. Yet that is what I ended up doing. 🤗

Wizard : What type of B12 are you injecting 8mg daily in 2mg increments ? I only ask as methylcobalamin does require a much higher dosage (at least 5mg I have been told to be effective) than cyano or hydro .. I have often wondered if the reversing out symptoms were due to lack of B12 dosing in the early days.

Thank you for your reply.

I am on purpose and with purpose not addressing amounts or forms and only frequency at this time.

The reason for how much B12 is most effective for me is unknown and likely will remain unknown due to lack of credible information available.

I now only work with effectiveness as a criteria for how I self treat along with safety.

I have found no information on forms or amounts that I find credible and rely on trials that I have done and the results of those trials.
