Filter Straws

I hope all are managing life well with "the forgotten disease." Just received my first order of B12 from Apohealth. The ampoules are glass, and as such require a filter straw to draw out the solution. Anyone have a reliable online source for the filter straws? I do not see them on Apohealth.

Thank you.

Good luck with finding them: I've heard of them but I don't know anyone who bothers to use them.

The chances of getting glass in you are negligible and it doesn't matter if you do. People have accidents where they get all sorts of foreign matter, especially glass, in them and the body just deals with it and may eject it, sometimes many years later. Surgical items - mesh, some stitches, screws, etc, are deliberately left in, without causing a problem.

I've done well over 2,000 jabs from glass ampoules and still haven't sucked up a shard of glass from an ampoule - I just use my fairly fine, 26G needles for draw up and injecting and all's fine.

Well done on SI and looking forward to getting your life back soon.

Use a blunt withdrawing needle then change to the finer needle for injection. Available from Medisave.

Most doctors / nurses injecting with glass ampoules do not use “ filter straws “ They just use normal injecting needles . But you can buy a blunt withdrawing needle which has an attached filter -quite a bit more expensive than a conventional needle

Medisave.co.U.K. BD Blunt Fill Needle with Filter. Ref. no 305211

18G x 1 1/2 “

Best wishes .

P.S. just Google the description , and you will find several options to buy them .

Medisave are out of stock at the moment !
