I made a mistake when ordering from Apohealth and now have 8 x10 packets of Cyano instead of Hydroxo. šŸ™„Would it be Ok to use them or not. What might be the implications?

Thank you!

Ive no personal experience buf my friend in Canada hax tried all sorts of b12.

Shes settled on cyanocobalamin.

Only thing I've read is it may not last as long in your system.

Try one and see ?

Clivealive was started on cyanocobalamin in the UK and has stayed on it

Fine to use , unless you suffer from the eye problem called Leberā€™s disease . They work fine . You might have to inject a little more often.

It is the type of B12 that is most commonly used in the USA. REMEMBER , when ordering to order B12 DEPOT . DEPOT INDICATES Hydroxocobalamin. Just B12 will bring up Cynocobalamin.

For Panpharma just use the Pharmaceutical reference code 16199653 for Hydroxocobalamin.

Thank you. I forgot to add 'depot' šŸ™„I'll give it a go and see.

Iā€™m in the USA and have only been prescribed hydroxocobalaminā€”like everything in the USA, it depends on your insurance.

I tried Canadian cyanocobalamin but it didnā€™t work well for me. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT.

I was going to say this- my prescription for injectable is Cyano, and its good for me although I do weekly injections.

Iā€™ve been on cyanocobalamin for 26 years no side effects, where as hydro Iā€™m allergic to.

Caradoc1a profile image
Caradoc1aā€¢ in reply toClugster

Is that common?

Just see how you go with them. They are supposed to be more stable and have a longer shelf life. Personally, I noticed a difference and prefer hydroxocobalamin.

Any idea as to why you prefer hyroxo?

I got hydroxocobalamin when I first started self injecting, I think I was following a link someone gave me. (And that's what I get from the doctors too). Then I bought cyanocobalamin by mistake, also because it was cheaper, but it just didn't work as well. I used it for 2 or 3 weeks. I just didn't feel good on it. Learnt about the different forms of cobalamin. Got more hydroxocobalamin and within 2 shots had perked up noticeably.

Thanks, that's definitely worth knowing.

I've used the cyanocobalamin twice this week and today I'm back to buzzing sore burning feet and swollen ankles again. I've been pretty active this week as well. I think the cyano doesn't give me enough of what's needed. I've SI every day this week. Back to hydroxo today and see what happens.

Make sure you are getting in the co-factors, all the Bs, fish oil, D, zinc, magnesium. I've had quite a bit of trouble with my legs lately. And I'm on hydroxocobalamin. Pain, swelling, fluid retention and rapid deflation, creaking joints. I sleep with my feet on a pillow. It comes and goes, but seems to have got a bit better since I got back on my multi B vitamins (Igennus Super B-Complex) rather than just l-methylfolate. It's partly down to varicose veins, but might be more reversing out nerve reconstruction. Very annoying.

It is very dispiriting. I feel for/with you. I'm good on all the co-factors. Take them every day and recent bloods were good. Just ongoing horribleness šŸ™„šŸ«¤

Iā€™m in the USA and have only been prescribed hydroxocobalamin. I currently order from Germanyā€”much cheaper.

I tried Canadian cyanocobalamin once as it was cheaper than hydroxo, but it didnā€™t work well for me. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT.

That's interesting. When your doctor does your injections, does he use the hydro? I had thought about trying it but my doctor's office only offers cyano and the Canadian company I order my B12 from only offers cyano. I hadn't thought about ordering from Germany. It seems so far away. I'll have to give it a try sometime.
