worried about high levels

Good morning everyone. It has been a while, and I had asked for blood tests before I went and had some private B12 injections, as my own Doctor had stopped them. My B12 was also low due to malabsorbtion, and PA results were borderline. I am symptomatic and feeling really bad lately. Its over a year since I had Injections. I asked for my first blood tests to be repeated, as I was confused by a high B12 test. They still come back high. I am putting my results in comments, inclkuding my LFT, because I do suffer Fatty Liver, and had gall bladder removed. Would anyone have any idea why my B12 is so high, without medications or injections?

serum B12 is extremely difficult if not impossible to interpret post injections - even if the levels are high that is no guarantee that the test is measuring bio-accessible B12 so you may still be deficient. There was a recent article that showed that one problem is that the B12 may be combined with another protein that stops it being bioaccessible.

Thanks Gambit, as always, you are very helpful

Agree with Gambit's post. My Serum B12 anytime when it has been measured after I started injecting has always been pegged at > 2,000 pg/mL. I don't have it tested any longer as it is known to not be useful while injecting.

Thanks Rexz. Thats why I was concerned. I havent had injections or supplements for 14-18 months, and it was quite high :( Just seemed unusual
