can someone please check my iron bloods

I wonder if someone would kindly check my bloods and seeing if you think they are ok. I have pernicious anemia and hashimoto's Thyroid. I have had anemia before and feel like I have similar symptoms again. I am experiencing shortness of breath, fast heartbeat, fatigue, dizziness and lightheadedness. Getting very out of breath walking up a hill or stairs and having a very fast pounding heart too. Waking up in my sleep feeling like I'm breathless. My Dr says the bloods are fine. I take regular B12 injections and folate every day. AI take T3 only for hashimoto's. I am also being tested for atrophic gastritis and am waiting for an endoscopy.

Ferritin 160 mg/l range (15 to 200)

Transferrin 2.50 g/l range (2 to 4 g/l)

Iron 15 umol/l range (12 to 30)

Transferrin saturation 24% range ( 25 to 50)

Thank you, your help would be most appreciated. x

suggest you speak with GP - the only measure that looks slightly under is transferrin saturation and I have no idea whether that is significant - though suspect it isn't significant as it is only just under.Pleas

Hi! The Iron panel looks fine to me. Have you recently checked your thyroid? Maybe you are overmedicated and experiecing hyper symptoms. When i had Graves disease (hyperthyroidism) i had all the symptoms you described ((hugs)).

Hi 2FloorLuka, thanks for the reply, most appreciated. I just had my T3 checked last week by the endocrinologist and it was 2.5 (range 0.9 to 2.5) so it is at the top of the range. I have cut my T3 meds by 10mcg this week because I was worried that i didn't have enough iron and the T3 was using it up. I feel worse if anything and am becoming more breathless everyday. Can't exercise at all this last week, just exhausted. Also very pale face. There is a type of anemia called chronic iron anemia which you get with inflammation but I don't know enough about it. Trying to read about it just now and understand it. My transferrin saturation is always low and was 20 at one point, range (25 to 30). Transferrin is always low and so is my serum iron. I know I have absorption issues with my stomach. What other symptoms of graves do you have. Thankyou🙏

Hi. I am not saying that you have Graves Disease. Maybe you are just overmedicated with thyroid meds and feeling awful. When i was sick, i was hungry all the time, had loose stools, my blood pressure was high and my heartbeat to the roof. Used to lose my breath in simple tasks, like going up stairs or just a simple walk.Did you have haemoglobin tested? If you think that you anaemic, that's the first step.

Not a doc but I had these symptoms when first diagnosed with PA. Your panel needs to be read collectively and your (relatively) low seton iron and low T Sats suggest mild iron deficiency . I needed to supplement iron for a while and then needed an infusion. That said you need to speak to your GP but your level do explain your symptoms

Thank you Martin, so grateful for your reply. I have been taking B12 injections every week at home so am not deficient anymore. Definitely getting more breathless everyday now so I need to get to the bottom of it soon.
