"Everything's fine" ~ Iron levels question

Hello, been a while, hope y'all hangin in there!

Got more tests back, doctor receptionist said "everything's fine" but I'm not so sure of course & been researching Iron & TIBC - I have high for both but most of what I'm reading says low iron level + high TIBC = iron deficiency, not high+high:

Serum ferritin level 118 ug/L [24.0 - 336.0]

Plasma iron level 29.6 umo/L [10.0 - 30.0]

Plasma total iron binding capacity 74 umo/L [40.0 - 70.0] - Above high reference limit

Plasma magnesium level 0.89 [0.7 - 1.0]

Zinc 17.1 umo/L [11.0 - 19.0]

I've been sorting out cofactors

- keeping up with the potassium via food

- sorting out my Vit D deficiency with 15,000UI in the morning

- 5 x 1000mcg of methylfolate daily as still injecting daily but want to space it out a bit more - tried going to every other day but not sure I'm there yet. Seems to feel better than the folic acid I tried but it gave me bad reaction

- Doctor's Best magnesium 4 spread throughout the day

- K2 complex in the evening

Headaches seem to have stopped since taking the magnesium, just suffering my first bruise from an injection a couple of days ago but not bad - one bruise out of 50+ injections over the last month and a bit ain't bad!

Anyhow that's the update, if anyone knows about iron levels do enlighten me whilst I google more!!!

5 mg of folate a day is OK for short-term use to rectify a severe deficiency, before moving on to a more sensible (about 400 ug a day) dose.

Once a diagnosed deficiency has been rectified the amount of B12 consumed makes no difference to folate requirements.

My car needs petrol and oil. But if I keep the fuel tank topped up to overflowing every day it doesn't increase the demand for oil.

Thanks, makes sense!

I wondered where you'd got to Steve! One quick Q: what steered you towards that particular brand of magnesium? I was using a topical Mg oil recently (as I had some in) but it caused a hideous rash (although it might be just a really bad bout of acne!) so have stopped that route of administration.

Still here! Been busy battling through B12 whilst building a web system for a pilot test for New Zealand prisons to teach Maori Art - weaving to women prisoners to a tight deadline & little budget. Was exhausting but worth it, learned so much about how my confidence issues have been affected by lack of B12. A whole New World & all that jazz!

IIRC it was the Vitamin D protocol site which led me down the Doctor's Best route in the first place, backed up by stats from research around various online hangouts like this. I'm pretty sure it's what's stopped the headaches. So far...
