Hi, I have recently had surgery to remove my toes (metatarsals), I burnt my foot over 3 years ago and it wasn't healing. I kept getting infections, and eventually they had to amputate. The opperation was in February, the wound is healing nicely but i am getting a lot of nerve pain, spasms on the sole of my foot, I get it on my other foot too, it can be very painful and nothing seems to control it. I am taking 125 mg pregaboline twice a day, 30 mg of codeine as often as i need it, oramorph too, When I was in hospital recently the consultant gave me a tablet which helped with the spasms, what could this have been, is there anythin else that would help? i know I am going to get phantum pain for probably the rest of my life but the spasms really hurt. I was getting them occasionally before my surgery but all the time now. I use a wheelchair and my legs are very stiff, again this may be part of the problem, lack of mobility.

I wonder would some kind of massager help. To help with the circulation?
Can you contact consultants secretary and ask to be provided with information re mediation that helped? They should be able to check info from doctor and write to you with medication details.
Have your Magnesium, calcium and Vitamin B tested.
how would that help, can you please explain? would multi vitamins help?
Having these items tested and seeing if your deficient and if you are deficient supplementing might help with your muscle spasms.

It’s likely you were given Diazepam! It’s the common medication given for spasm and it’s effective for pain relief, however it is highly addictive and as a result Drs don’t like prescribing it for long periods. Mirror box therapy is meant to be very effective for phantom pain.
A drug called gabapentin normally helps with nerve pain. Check with the doctor.
it’s there mirrors are used to trick you brain into thinking your amputation is still present. The ghost pains relate to the fact your brain can’t understand the loss of a limb, but using mirrors and then doing exercises tricks the brain which reduces/alleviates the pain.
If you google it there’s loads of very famous medical documentaries about its success
