I don't know the frequency of the injections or the limit if there is one. But it worked for you and that's a big plus! Are you able to phone them for another appointment? What was said when you had it done?
Would you consider asking your GP for a few Diazepam on your regular presription each month. I found that after 2 nights it loses effect. According to my former GP they become addictive after 7 days. As a muscle relaxant and to help with a couple of nights sleep you could maybe try them twice a week?
Have you considered asking GP or your Consultant (if still under one) for an urgent referal to the Pain Clinic? There may be a waiting list, but at least you know the injection works for you. Was it done by an Anaesthetist?
I've been to pain clinic but I didn't have the injection. They said it may not last long. I waited so long for the appointment and was managing the pain a bit better by the time I was seen. It's my neck that's the problem and since I've been using less pillows at night it's helping.
Just got a platela support from Orthopaedics clinic this morning for my Right knee. Pity they didn't give me it sooner! Don't want any more near falls!
Also, a man (in his 70's) I see in the park, is waiting for an appointment for the injection. He has been to Pain Clinic and they told him to try it but it works for some people but not others - I think he said 50/50 chance. That's why I said at least you know it works. He is on morphine but he says it only gives him about half an hour before wearing off.
Hi. I've been told that facet joint injections can only be given every 6 months because of the effect of steroids on the body. My NHS trust only gives them yearly due to staff shortages. I get a top up at 6 months privately.
I use the period of relief from the injections ( usually about 3 /4 months to work on stregthen ing my back muscles and improving my fitness and stamina.
Depending on your degree of pain and 'disability' from your back condition, Pilates , yoga or any exercise that stregthens your core muscles and improves flexibility is good.
