I’m currently experiencing bouts of the worst tummy pain I’ve ever had. It started on New Year’s Day with a vague feeling of just feeling under the weather, fever, off food and mild tummy ache. Fast forward to January 2nd and the vague tummy ache became constant and accompanied by the most awful tummy cramps lasting between 5-10 seconds each time and happening regularly throughout the day.
Went to the hospital for a ultrasound yesterday (normal) and bloods as well as a test for h pylori which I’m still waiting for results. I did test positive for a uti and have antibiotics for that, but dr says because of my pain being high up in my tummy, above belly button that that will not be the cause of my pain. She did say it could be gastritis.
I have never heard of this before and whenever I look online some symptoms fit but I don’t see anywhere about these painful contraction like pains - I have noticed they seem worse after eating and also with certain movement? But the way I’m feeling is just so awful, I don’t have an appetite have lost weight and just feel so tired. If I fancy eating it’s just plain food- but after two slices of toast made my pain worse I now just feel like I won’t bother eating- although I have to as my antibiotics need to be taken with food.
I guess I’m wondering if anyone can relate to my symptoms, especially the painful spasms of pain which do happen for no reason but definitely worse if I move or after eating. They last about 5-10 seconds and then ease. I also have a burning feeling in my tummy and after eating my tummy becomes noisy, bubbly and generally more painful plus with the contractions on top just awful!
I have been given buscopan but they don’t help at all. So until my results are back my only slight relief is a hottie on my tummy.
Sorry for babbling any advice or replies so appreciated.
A couple of extra things - I had a colonoscopy in May which just showed a small polyp.
I, like many, over indulged at Christmas, and as it was my birthday too (a week ago today when I felt like a completely different person) went out for an Indian and drank rather a lot of white wine - I’m not usually a big drinker.
