I have both of these and a hiatus hernia. I suffer terrible burning pain on eating as if everything is inflammed all inbetween my shoulder blades all down my back to my middle back. The pain can last for hours and I can't take pain meds as it's then worse. I take Gaviscon and eosomaprazol but they don't stop this hirrendous burning. Does anyone else suffer like this. I cry a lot with it and dread eating.
Oesophagitis and gastritis: I have both of... - Pain Concern
Oesophagitis and gastritis
Who have you seen about this? Are you under a Gastro? Does your GP know about how things are? It sounds like you need medical input there.
Yes I had an endoscope last year and it showed I still had this after 4 years of pain. I'm waiting to hear from a GI app again but that was 7 weeks ago and I know they are refusing to see me as I fell out with him big time 2 yrs ago so my GP is going to refer me to a different hospital I hope. I do need help as the pain is horrendous and disables me. Thankyou
I had oesophagitis and a hiatus hernia and was on omeprazole morning n evening for years.
I then went to a chiropractor for another problem and I ended up mentioning my hiatus hernia and he said he could help with that. He did a few non painful movements and my problem resolved. I will say it took 2 goes at it, as the first time it lasted about 4 months and then problems started returning the second time I had it done it's never come back...think about a year now. I'm no longer on omeprazole.
Could be worth phoning a chiropractors and ask if anyone has training in hiatus hernia. I had it done at the chiropractic college near where I live so they are teaching it to new chiropractic students.

Gaviscon doesn’t work on this. Omeprazole should work twice a day, it is the gold standard for reflux, but it should be taken regularly and be followed with a diet that is quite bland to stop the acuteness of the problem and then to try to stick to no aggravating the stomach with acidic or oily foods and drink.
Maybe a change in meds is called for?
I have had reflux, gastritis, polyps, stomach taking longer to absorb food and ulcer pain for nearly fourteen years; it’s no fun but great when it’s controlled

What foods then do you avoid etc. I try to stick to low fat non spicey etc
Anything bland, start from scratch, pasta, rice, bread, cereal, egg, pulses, bananas are good non irritating foods, I am sure there are more, and just experiment with what you add to them. Avoid red wine, fresh pineapple, oil, lemon, fat is good just not fried 😬
I rarely get affected now, one omeprazole in the morning and one at night have fixed my reflux for a good year now.
When did you last have a change of meds? may be a good idea for a change If it has been a while, and if you still have symptoms and it’s affecting your everyday life. 😢

Hi, Poor you... I know this is going to be a long shot but I read that sometimes probiotics can help. One thing you might try which is relatively cheap is kefir. It's a probiotic drink and unlike natural yoghurt the good bacteria stays in the system and helps to neutralise stomach acids.; whereas with yoghurt, it just passes through. It does taste like a natural yoghurt. There are several on the market and are available from bigger supermarkets. Some are nicer than others. The one I prefer is Krasnystaw.. think it's polish. The ones made in the uk are nice, but quite dear. Give it a try... have it first thing in the morning.
My sister suffers with reflux etc, but won't change her diet... I suggested she try it, but she refused to because she like sweeten things! Another of my friends who suffered for years with stomach acid has recenly gone gluten free and has found that it has helped.
Take care .
Hi basten, I take lansoprozle for my stomach it helps have you tried it
No I was on Ranatidine and now eosomaprazol. Makes no difference neither of them to the burning pain. Thankyou for replying
i have all of these too, plus i would bloat, you could actually watch my stomach getting bigger and bigger over just a few minutes. the only thing that i have found is a good diet. avoid most carbs including pastry which is both high in fat and white flour, if you have to have them, make sure they are wholemeal, potatoes and rice are ok though, no fried food, avoid anything spicy, raw tomatoes, onions and peppers. your diet doesn't have to be bland just really watch what you eat. i also lost weight by eating this way too
Low fat is good but like I said there's other triggers too, like onions tomatoes and peppers, comes to something when you can't even enjoy a salad lol
I totally agree. It absolutely sucks. I can't even eat a biscuit, cake and chocolates a big NO !!!
