Can anyone please help me. I have been having extremely sensitive scalp issues for such a long time, had visits to dermatologist and had a biopsy which didn’t show anything and concluded it was a dysesthesia (an abnormal sensation of the scalp). I cry when I wash my hair because it hurts so much and I cannot bear to touch my scalp as it is so painful and my hair feels like it hurts .
I have also had ear pain but GP has checked it out and has suggested it could be referred pain from a dental problem so I am seeing my dentist who has said it could be coming from a nerve that is dying off so I have to have more tests on teeth in a couple of weeks.
On top of all this I have tingling everywhere, my hands, feet, up legs and even in my mouth.
I do have arthritis in my neck and also have TMJ problems.
I am so distressed with all these symptoms and I cannot function properly and get on with a normal life as I have all these all day every day.
I feel like a lost cause but if there is anybody out there who could help me I would be forever grateful. Sorry this is such a long post.

Hi there have you tried going to a pain clinic. or I seeing a neurologist as that is where you might need the help? Maybe get your vitamin B12 levels checked as that might cause the tingling if they are low?
Get your Dr to refer you to the nerve conduction testing.
What they do in simple terms, is send very very mild electric current down various nerves and measure the response or lack of responses.
(Don't try it .... I have to say that)
Have you ever licked the top of a 9v battery as a kid to see if it still worked? .... Well it's a bit like that. I will confess sometimes it can hurt like fk, but of it helps you find what's wrong, it's worth it.
I've had a few of these tests to do with my ULNA nerve in my hands.
I suggest having your Dr exclude a vit D ,folate,magnesium ,vitamin B12 deficiency or Pernicious Anaemia .This is where nerves are attacked leaving its victim with burning,numbness,itch, tingling,pins & needles even seizures.We were both misdiagnosed despite having 30 symptoms.A flawed low range serum B12 also caused us to be dismissed as it should be above 550 ..Treatment is frequent vit b12 shots & cofactors which saved our lives.A valueable website b12awareness.org
Hi, I suffer from spondylosis of the neck which affects my shoulders. At the beginning it started with a very sore scalp. Even now after 12 years I suffer with it. I would surmise that what you are experiencing is because of the arthritis in your neck. Maybe you should request an MRI on the spine as I did.
Hi maybe you are suffering from nerve pain like me . I have had strange tingling burning aching sore sensations in my head and scalp for the last year. It is incredibly uncomfortable and makes me so unhappy . It has severely reduced my quality of life and satisfaction with life . I would recommend you go to your GP and they can maybe refer you for an MRI scan of your brain . They might also prescribe you amitryptilline or gabapentin for the pain
Hi. I know it is a while since you posted about SD but wondered if you found a cure. I have same symptoms as you and it's driving me mad. I can't sleep because if the itching. I already take amitriptyline but it's not helping. I am waiting for a Mri of my neck but don't have a n appointment yet. This has been going on for 6 months with no let up. I’m sorry you are suffering . I know first hand how painful and distressing dysesthesia of the scalp can be as I have been suffering from it for over a year . It causes me great mental distress and mental health problems
it is sore all over my scalp now . The scalp pain has got worse and worse and worse . It is now painful everywhere. All my nerves seem to be on fire or inflamed . It is incredibly uncomfortable and painful . I dont know why I have to suffer like this
my scalp is also hot to the touch and burning . It burns everywhere . It feels like someone has been burning the nerves of my scalp and head . Damaging and burning my scalp
Hi. I know it's a while ago but did you ever find a cure for your scalp soreness. I have been having sore itcy scalp for 6 months now. Sometimes it feels like I've been scalded. It stings, itches and burns and I can't sleep because of it. Any advice would be appreciated. Carol x
