Nerve block injection

I’ve had neck and shoulder pain for years tried everything without any real relief. Next moth I have an appointment with a radio neurologist, where I am to be given a nerve block injection in the even that this will work. I’ve heard so many discouraging things about this injection, and would welcome the comments of someone who has received one. Thank you.

Hi, I know they work for some people. Personally, I recieved 2 many years ago for chronic pain after failed cervical disc surgery. In my case I did not get much relief. It is certainly worth a try if you are having intractable pain. Best, etheral

Have you found anything that works? I have a very similar problem.

Hi Joreo. I’ve had this pain for over 12 years now, all GPs are interested in is throwing pain killers at you, that’s certainly my experience. I have been to pain management/muscular skeletal. I was sent there for steroid injections, but each time I felt as if the therapist was against it, as I felt as if they where talking me out of it, as they would say such things as, are you sure you want this injection, and I’m sure you will get better on your own, which I haven’t unfortunately. Now I’m going for nerve block injections from which I will benefit hopefully.

Hi judo1010 I had a guided steroid injection on my shoulder for bursitis and it was amazing instant relief and so far pain never came back. Hope this helps tc

My Consultant gave me an appointment for a "nerve block injection" by C scan. I learned later that he hadn't been candid - the injection was in reality a steroid injection with a touch of local anaesthetic. I hate these clinical lies so I cancelled the appointment and heard nothing more from the Consultant.

Hi,I recently had an appointment with my local pain clinic. The person I saw was an anesthetist and specialised in pain advice/relief. long story cut short......she told me that in her opinion the success rates of these pain relieving injections were not high, and that most times they don't work/could be dangerous or do more harm than good!!?? the injection would have been in the spine area as i suffer from herniated discs and sciatica. i''m glad in a way i didn't get it

If an MRI doesn't show any damage to your neck, find a good chiropractor.
