I am a 35 year old woman. And I'm looking for some advice and if anyone can shed some light.
2 weeks ago I had what it seemed a uti. I was in severe pain in my bladder area. I've been prescribed antibiotics twice (nitrofurantoin). My urine sample was negative however. There were no nitrites found. Only leukocytes showing there may be an infection.
However, although the pain in my bladder has almost gone. I've now got groin pain on both sides, a lower back ache and some thigh pain.
I am honestly very worried. And I'm also scared the bladder pain will return. I'd describe that pain as unbearable and I almost rang 111 in urgency 2 weeks ago.
I am trying to keep positive etc. But, I'm also worried.
Thanks in advance.

Take another urine sample into your doctors on Monday and ask them for an appointment. I’m often having bladder issues . etc etc. you can ask to be referred to Eurology dept .
Could be interstitial cystitis..... mention it to your GP.
That pattern of pain could be to related to your back or your hip joints. I have not had bladder problems but I did ring NHS 111 when I had severe pain similar to yours.
There is a saying in medicine, patients can have as many diseases as they damn well please! So don't assume that this is just one thing, there could also be some musculoskeletal things going on, so best to talk to a doctor.
All good suggestions so far! I am a recently retired complementary therapist, after 25 years, .... and have found that muscular lower back or groin pain responded really well to Bowen Technique/NST, and that for any bladder conditions a natural supplement called Mannose-D was great. Because off my age (80) I am not pushing anything, but happy to respond to any more questions .... Best wishes. TimbowPSP
Hello timbowPSPI’m pleased to read your reply. I have been having bladder trouble on and off for many years. . I have been to Eurology and they cannot find anything wrong. However I have heard about this Bowen technique before and also the D mannose supplement. I have not tried this. DMannose . Can I buy it over the counter . Also do you know anything about the Oestrogen cream. ? I am 69 years of age .
Hello Penny Rabbits ...... we are in poundland here and call it Urology - outside the Eurology camp! But more seriously I had some UTI yrs ago and the Mannose-D saved me: I used the Waterfall D-Mannose, which I'd say is highly ethical. Can't help with dosage, so go on line and a call to them should help. Not seen it over the counter. And I'm the wrong person for Oestro cream. Local health food store, nutritionist, etc? Cheers TIM
Oh, Penny I forgot to say.... Bowen certainly helps to put the body back into rhythm so can often sort out pelvic imbalance, out-of-control periods, etc (not for you these days), and lopsided walking. See if you have a local 'Bowener' : Bowen Technique, NST, and others. `Look for therapists at BTPA = Bowen Therapy Prof Assn. THere's some homework for you ! best wishes TIM
I experienced quite a few of your symptoms and it was due to prolapse in the pelvic area. Maybe ask to see a pelvic physiotherapist and/or gynacologist to rule that out?
HiI'm sorry to hear you've been in so much pain. Like rabbits 65 said, take another sample to your DRS. Sometimes you need to push for a Dr to do anything. I know this is hard. I've had so many UTIs I've lost count!! My bladder basically doesn't work. I've got to self cathiterize because I can't wee without this unless I'm bursting!!!!
So I rang 111 when I was in severe back and lower abdominal pain last night. I finally got an appointment with the out of hours doc at 3am. He dipped my urine again and it turns out I still have a uti despite being on nitrofurantoin. I am now on a different anti biotic and the pains have started to subside. Turns out my body was resistant to the nitrofurantoin! This is my 4th course of antibiotics. I'm hoping for some success now!
Pleased you’ve finally got seen and with a different antibiotic . Yes I’ve had that nitrofurenton. And trimethoprim. I cannot have penicillin. It does rather seem as though our bodies get used to these drugs and end up not working. This worries me. Hope your ok now
