This is my first post. 2 years ago I started getting symptoms of a UTI on multiple occasions each month, it would limit my movement and life. It is like thousands of red hot needles.
Each time I went to the Docs they would test my urine and find nothing, so I went private and saw a specialist. They said I have interstitial cystitis and They provided 6 courses of cycstitat if correctly spelt, they would use a catheter to Insert it into my bladder. I had 4 treatments once a week in the first month and 1 per month for the next 2 months. This was meant to provide a new lining in my bladder.
It's now been 7 months since this, I'm still getting pain every day its irritable, feels pressured, sensitive like nerve endings.. I've gone back to the specialist in this area through private and he judt wants to put me back on the same again.
Nobody can tell me how to get rid of this pain, every day I have it and I'm struggling to get through each day with my sanity intact.
Has anyone else got any similar conditions and can help guide me please?

This sounds exactly like symptoms I have been very painfully suffering with for a few years now and I empathise with what you are going through, having tried everything under the sun to help me cope in the past, all to no avail. No-one realises how badly this can affect every minute of every day of your life. But I do xxx After many investigations in gynae, I ended up being seen in the urology clinic at my local hospital and after a cytoscopy it was found that I was suffering from vaginal atrophy. I have been going through the menopause and apparently this problem is caused by the thinning, drying and inflammation of the vaginal walls due to the body having less estrogen. I now use a vaginal cream, with a small amount of hrt in it called Ovestin 1mg cream and have been symptom free for a couple of months now. I cannot believe it, I have my life back!!
As rickyjoe says it could well be vaginal atrophy causing the problem as it affects everything down there, I've been on topical hrt for years and on the whole it keeps things under control.
I am in the same position but only 3 months in. I have had 3 UTI's, 5 lots of antibiotics but I am still having ongoing pain 3 weeks after I finished the last course on antibiotics. I have had 2 Ultasounds, 1 xray and a cytoscopy which were all clear, I am going back to the doctors on Friday to ask for a full blood work.
Hello, I have had bladder problems for many years and find it is made worse by waiting to go to toilet, wearing pads for leakage , and lack of fluid at regular intervals. When very bad I find the treatment for cysititis releives the symptoms, but it does not go away, mine as been labled as irritable bladder. So all the advice on remedies for cystitis do help. I was given a drug used in men for prostrate problems which made the bladder feel more comfortable, but can't remember the name of it sorry. Hope you get some releif soon.
I suspect, that the drug, might be 'Tamsulosin' or something similar. This Relaxes the muscles, in the Urinary area. There are, as always, the 'Mile Long' Side Effect/Contra Indications, though ALL my Drugs have these.
I can see that NO harm, can be done, by wearing Absorbent Pads/Pants. One of my Ex girlfriends, some years ago now, used to do so. Sometimes she would 'whisper', to me, something like 'Oh I need a Pee'. I would just tell her to 'Go', or 'Do It', 'you have a pad on babe'. I only mention this because it made 'things', so much, easier for her.
Anyway do speak, to your Doctor/Consultant(s) about a possible drug.
I had the same. My doctor put me on a low dose of antibiotics for six months and now after 18 months I have only had 1 episode which cleared up with 5 days of stronger antibiotics.
