Pain from ingrown toenail

I had an accident where I had a nail bed injury on my left big toe about 7 months ago. The nail had to be completely removed but eventually, it grew back. I was worried about an ingrown toenail but the doctor assured me that it should heal fine. Now I have pus forming around part of my nail, and its hardening. The same doctor prescribed pain meds and antibiotics and said that my ingrown toenail is more of an inconvenience and not a health risk, and surgery can be an option later if the pain is unbearable and you can see a noticeable curve on the inside edge of the nail. It looks pretty bad though. I'm not sure what to do because the medication didnt stop the abcessing, and the pain which wasnt much is now starting to get worse.

You might want to get an appointment with a podiatrist. They are the experts at feet and they will be able to advise you.

Soak in water as hot as you can manage several times a day, clean gently with a cotton bud and then spray with TCP. Go barefoot around the house. Essential that you make an appointment to see a Podiatrist as soon as you can. Good luck.
