how to stop pain from wound

Hi, I am struggling with the nerve pain from my wound. I burnt my foot over 2 years ago and the wound is still healing. The lower limb clinic who do my dressings are using viscopaste on the wound over my toes and the pain is unreal, a very severe burning, my foot keeps jumping around, it is obviously something to do with the nerve endings. I had the same problem last weekend after they dressed my wound last time but I thought it was because my wound was wet but the pain just built up earlier on, I tried oramorph and codein and I cannot calm the pain down. What else can I do for this pain please? I need to tell them about this on Friday but they don't take a lot of notice when I tell them about my pain. I can only handle so much of this.

There are many different types of pain, and they all have different treatments. Can you ask to be referred to a pain clinic? They are the experts at pain and should be able to give you bespoke treatment since opiods aren't working. As they aren't working, it points to a different kind of pain and one that needs a different treatment. Explain this to the lower limb clinic and say that you want treatment before the pain becomes worse and chronic.

Hi, I was under the pain clinic until last year but they didn't seem to be able to do very much but am speaking to Gp today so will ask for a new referal to pain clinic. They need to do something as pain is chronic.

Can you try Amytriptyline at bedtime to calm the nerve signals? I have nerve pain and it helps me.

Have you applied aloe Vera topically and have you drink aloe Vera juice? It might help.

0.1 mg Clonidine st bedtime might help you to.

Hi, anything I try will have to be oral as I am in full compression bandaging, it can be too tight. Where do you get alovera? When I speak to Gp I will try and get something.

You can buy aloe Vera juice in a health food store.

Have you tried using ice packs by putting it on top of bandage ( not on skin)?
