Will this chest discomfort ever end started 5 weeks ago went a+e the did ecg blood tests said its deffo not my heart apparently its acid reflux as i keep needing to burp but cant most of the time they gave me medication but it only worked for like 2 weeks the doc prescribed different ones but they haven't worked.its making my anxiety so bad i just cant cope

Check out GERD.

Avoid fatty foods , especially in evening.

Try sleeping in as upright a position as possible-- sitting up if possible.

Beware PPI medications--( thems the -- zole ones.)

It can be managed if you don't have ulsters, 🤪

Why beware of PPIs if they treat reflux?

They prevent formation of acid, but should not be used long-term. Due to side effects.

Also very bad for restless legs ( which is where I come in!)

Ok, just wondered.

I've been on them for 5 years with no problems.

I'm worse off them than on.

Everyone is different I suppose.

There is another possibility. Could it be the muscles around your chest, something like Costochondritis?

No ive noticed a pattern so like today i need to burp but cant i can feel it come up but cant get it out this happens through out the day then the next day i have the chest discomfort its realy annoying coz today i have the trapped burps n i know tomorrow or later my chest is going to ache 🤷‍♀️

I wonder if it could be muscle spasms stopping the burps from coming up properly?

Im not sure some days i can burp fine then others it just wont come up feels like its trapped in my esophagus then i get the the chest discomfort its just realy annoying

Do you ever have a problem with swallowing? There are a lot of muscles in the oesophagus and it takes clever coordination for them to all work together. Sometimes though they get out of sync. My son's ENT consultant said that if he was having problems like that he was to ask for a referral to a speech and language therapist.

No not swallowing the doc said its all part of the acid reflux its just realy uncomfortable as i feel bloated alot of the time because the airs trapped some days i can burp fine then other days like today it just wont come up and i know tomorrow now my chest is going to be realy uncomfortable

Have you tried gaviscon? It's Oct and was recommended to me by the pharmacist. It worked wonders for me. Be sure to get the chewable tablets

They form a barrier to keep the acid where it belongs.

Yh it dont work for me 🤦‍♀️
