Magnetic Knee Support

Dear All,

A few months ago now, I bought a Magnetic, Knee Support- a device containing four powerful magnets, worn just below the knee. I know that, there are a number of these 'things' available, and that Effectiveness can vary....Mine is FANTASTIC! My, long suffering, right knee- the one that I damaged, very badly, as a Teen is so MUCH improved. It feels Stronger, doesn't 'Give out' as often, isn't 'anywhere near' as painful...ALL for a Velcro Fitted 'Brace', that cost about twenty pounds- I'd say a Bargain, for sure....Do I recommend, this 'Brace'? You Bet Your Life, I DO!

These 'Braces' are easily available, in 'Health' shops, Pharmacies, maybe even Supermarkets- along with Specialist Outlets. (I bought mine, in a 'Fixed' Market Stall, that deals in Personal Aides.)

Surely worth 'a try', at that price....

Hi Andrew, admittedly the magnetic wrist support has helped me but after using the knee ones(Blue+Black with velcro fasteners) I am not so sure if it's the "Placebo Effect" the reason I say this is as I said it seemed to work for my wrist ,but the knee ones I purchased from a high st Pharmacy in Brighton didn't do anything apart from support my knees. I later found out exactly the same product, same manufacturer, everything! could be bought admittedly in different packaging from the pound shops! I am not sure if the magnets actually do anything? I tried everything even the "Copper" bracelet for my wrist, didn't work yet the magnetic wrist strap seemed to ease the pain and I was able to hold things,it's just after trying the knee ones which seemed to only give my knees a bit of support they didn't seem to do anything else? Hence I do wonder if it is just the "Placebo Effect "? If they do work for others then they are just as well purchasing from the pound shops ! I bought from a high st pharmacy the wrist and knee ones, when I renewed the wrist one I bought that from the pound store and it did the same as the £19.49 one from the pharmacy.

Dear Delzek,

I have, in light of your- I think rather fair- comments, examined my Knee Support further. Mine is fully Black, except on the side the actual Magnets are Housed. This has a 'slightly red' covering.

You raise some good 'Points' Delzek- not least just, how good, some Pound Shops are! (My Mother once purchased, a whole set of Correction Tapes, Mice and Liquid...Yes a pound.) I have a, very useful, 'Flexible USB Lamp' for my Computer... a Pound.

I DO take, your point, maybe Psychological/ Placebo.... I can only speak as I find..... My Magnetic Support is Wonderful and, for me, that's a fact. (Rather like TENS Machines, some Swear BY them, other Swear AT them.) Surely, if you find something, that works for you....

Once again, your reply, is appreciated Delzek.

Thank you Andrew, could you give me the name of the one you have ,?Please I Actually use a "Tens" machine for my back, works well once you find the correct settings for You and the right position for them. It was a Pregnant Lady who advised trying the Tens machine. On the Magnetic straps again Perhaps different manufacturers use stronger magnets or position them differently? I will try anything to reduce pain so that I can stop taking Oramorph, Zomorph, and all the other medications I am on,I would rather use natural remedies than all of the Chemicals I have been prescribed. It would also save my costs

Dear Delzek,

Sorry but I can't remember the Manufacturer, of my Knee Support, only that it contains 'Rare Earth' Magnets. I would find, like I did, a 'Specialist' outlet- preferably one that doesn't Cost The 'Earth'- and speak to them.

As regards your TENS Machine, excuse me asking, but How Well did it 'Work', for you. I only ask because, a friend- some years back- complained that 'it made her pain Worse, when baby kicked'.

Do try, to find, a good Magnetic Support... Sorry I can't remember the name though! I'm 'About as much use as a..... Chocolate Tea Pot/ Waterproof Tea Bag/ Solar Powered Sun Lamp....'

Can you let me, indeed us all, know how you get on Delzek. Best wishes

When I used my Tens machine my use of medication was cut down a lot, it was a Physio that showed me how to use it properly, She said if I used it on the wrong settings or put the sticky pads in the wrong place it would cause more damage than good. It really worked well for a long While, then it didn't seem to work as well and eventually I gave up. When my ex was pregnant with both my Son and Daughter, she swore by the Tens machine as did my Eldest Daughter two years ago. My friend that recommended it to me also swore by it,Yet my Neighbour genuinely Swears at it .

My Physio has recently tried the Tens machine herself due to Pregnancy honestly hated it .so I suppose one persons Nectar is another's Poison.

I was told by my natural doctor that magnets can draw out the pain but do nothing for the healing part. They mask the pain therefore making you believe that you are better so you use the leg or arm causing more damage. I had a stiff neck used the magnets it took the pain away as long as the magnets were on the neck but did nothing to heal it. Took the same amount of time to go away. I used the magnet mattress and it made me so bad. I am polarized back wards so they did me no good. I was told magnets are a placebo effect on the body. But glad it helped you .

Well done, I found a knee support with magnets around the open patella guard ring. It also has removable hinged, nylon hinges on either side. In all my 30 years of knee problems and 2 surgeries; this is the best thing I have ever purchased.
