Arthritis in the knee

My husband has recently been diagnosed with arthritis in the knee. It was very painful and was given an injection which relieved the pain for a few weeks. Since his work requires being on his feet all day the pain has returned. Any suggestions for relief of pain. He has to work in order to continue health insurance.

You can buy knee braces which might help support the knee. Again with shoe insoles.

Heat rubs can help with pain and he'd be able to use that in work as well as painkillers.

He should obviously inform his workplace of the diagnosis and they should be able to help with regular breaks and they may even be able to provide a stool or something to help support his knee....

Hope this helps..x

Can I pick one piece from here? Health insirance. Who do you have this with? Presume you have told them about his new diagnosis and wondered what their reaction was? There are some very well known companies notorious for not paying clams even when onditions have been disclosed to them.

I would hate to hear he has carried onworking in such pain in order to carry on with contributions only to find out they refuse to pay when needed.

Sorry to be the technical one!

He could consider Acupuncture. Traditional Chinese Acupuncture or Symtomatic Acupuncture. Privated Physios sometimes do this. But you would have to make sure they had the relevant qualifications and experience. I have Osteochondritis dissicans in my knee and Arthritis and the Traditional Chinese Acupuncture has helped enormously. At present pain free in knee for over a year. The Acupuncturist that I go to has over 30 years experience .

I'm not a medic etc.. But in my experience knees need quick treatment. Arthritis in the knee means nothing other than its not tracking properly and causing wear and tear. he should have an arthroscopy ASAP which will clear out any debris and then physio to get the knee working better. He probs has stiff hips causing knee to take movement strain. Cycling has been shown to improve knee function. Best wishes

Try an Alexander teacher. They can help your husband with body posture issues. This should help him stand for long periods of time with less discomfort.

Hope this helps

For the treatment of this problem, you can go with the acupuncture specialist but if you don't find relief from this method then don't make any delay to consult a qualified orthopedic surgeon. orthopedicsurgerysandiego.com/
