I have a dull ache in my sternum thats been there for several months. The doc did an ekg and sent me for a stress test which was fine. Its just like an ache in the middle of my chest. Putting a heating pad on helps a bit. I do have a upper aortic aneurism that is 4.5 but she says I wouldnt get pain from that. Im not so sure. Anyone have anything like this?

Sternum Pain
It sounds like it could be costochondritis. Please ask your GP about it. I had it a few months back but after taking anti-inflammatories it went away. Hope you will get to the bottom of it. Take care
Thank you, never heard of that but ill look it up.
Consider discussing your fears with your GP. If you are worried regards your heart a scan can be taken that checks out the area around the heart. The Sternum rides above the heart, could you have pulled the area when performing exersise or similar

Im not afraid or worried. This is uncomfortable with having the pressure on the chest area. Just need to get to the bottom of it. So many doctors just give you a pill instead of getting to the cause.
I was going to say the same thing as Morespoonsplease. I have had costochondritis most of my life. It comes and goes. It is inflammation of the cartilage. Long term, I found that amitriptyline in small doses kept it at bay VERY well. I think I took 10 mg daily. But, if a short term of anti-inflammatories can do the trick, go for it. Mine was much more long-term. Best of luck with this - AND with your aneurism.
