Hi, I find paracetamol on their own dont help much, but taken with ibuprofen helps as ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory , I get prescribed naproxen by my GP but I dont use them as they are no better than the paracetamol/ibuprofen combination and they make me constipated so I stick to paracetamol/ibuprofen

Thanks for the Response NBro yeah that's the problem with a lot of medication the side effects. Was given 15g of codeine but very wary of taking for that reason. Can't take Anti inflammatorys because of my other conditions. Will have to speak to my Doc again.

I've taken codeine tablets to when I've been in a lot of pain, they did help but i was worried about getting addicted to them so I stopped, I wish you all the best and I hope your doc can help you

I have stage 5 (Idiopathic peripheral neuropathy) from mid-calf down. It has finally put me in a wheelchair nearly 100% of the time. It was the death-nail for me as I became totally disabled. I see a neurologist and he inject my neck monthly. About the only treatment there is my understanding. Even though mine has no cause he could find, most likely it is due to my long-standing CKD stage 4 issue. Though not the most common cause it is most likely the culprit. I just get up and go “walk” until I can’t walk anymore. I keep constant heat on the neck but I can’t hold my head up more than about 30 minutes at a time without needing to lay down on the heating pad again. I’ve had 20 plus orthopedic surgeries since 1998 with bilateral TKA 2004 and 2014, bilateral total hips 2008/2009, bilateral ankle fusion 2012/2013. I will have jo other surgeries unless life threatening. I feel for you as most likely my neck pain is the most painful of all the painful joints I have. Hanging my head everywhere I go is not me and not how I was raised by my parents but this disease can sometimes give you those feelings. Certainly made me want to stay isolated. Anyway, just my opinion. Hope you find relief and a proper diagnosis. My best to you!
