Was it an Occupational Therapist?
Contact your local council and selfrefer or otherwise ask your gp for a referral
Hope you get an appointment soon
If you all social service or you gp and they will sent the occupational therapist to call at your dwelling and see what you need, or buy some handles or grab rail and a local handy man.
Hi Garypotts .
I had a similar question myself this morning.I was looking to how I go about getting rails by the steps outside my house.
A district nurse called to see me today and she said the best way to do this was to speak to an occupational therapist.
They woukd come to my home assess what items would assist me in making everyday life easier.
She said I could have also been referred via my GP .So however you do it thats the way to go.
.Hope you get the right assistance soon.

Gary its worth contacting your local council (whether its your own home ,council or private landlord) ask for the "Occupational therapist" and they will visit you asses your needs and arrange all permissions and supply and fit! they will only supply what they deem necessary rather than what you may Want!
It could take some months for the Ocupational therapist to come and asses your home situation depending on the county you live it
Contact your adult social services who should know your occupational therapist's name and contact details. They should be able to help you Gary.
Hope all goes well.
