Massage for Epidural Fibrosis?

I've heard a lot about deep massage to get rid of adhesions and scar tissue. I had a partial discectomy two years ago and have had chronic pain after two months of being relative pain-free. Has anyone had positive experience with this or any other non-surgical procedure to get rid of scar tissue?

Thanks in advance

Maybe not quite what you are looking at but I suffered extreme painful 'golfer's elbow' for years.

I had injections from time to time which did give relief but it always came back . Years of gardening.

My GP refered me to physio who carried out ultra sound on the scarred area. I think I had 2 sessions. That was abut 6 years ago and no pain since then Not a twinge and I still garden

Paton I find it hard to believe that ultrasound cured your golfers elbow, I have suffered with tennis elbow and received the maximum of two cortisone injections into my right elbow then had surgery to repair it after 6 months.

Well much to my surprise and delight it did. It broke down the old scarring and realigned the tissues etc as they should be.

I cannot exactly answer your question as I have no experience of this. However, their has been new research on fascia which demonstrates the importance of well functioning fascia on pain free activity.

What I understand is that fascia supports muscle and enables muscle to function well providing the fascia is functioning well.

Google "muscle trains" for more explanation.

All you can do is investigate. You need to network to find who are the best therapists in your area. We can talk about it, but one cannot know if it is right or not for you until you try it. Many diseases can have the same symptoms, but different causes. Different causes require different treatments.

Hope this helps.

Absolutely. I am the same as you, had same op and same problems found deep tissue massage fantastic pain relief but can't afford it which is really annoying. (originally my mum paid for 10 treatments which worked wonderfully) I am disabled and on benefits so that's why I can't afford it as it is about £30 per half hour. I had massage once a week but ideally to really work the best I would suggest at least twice a week if you can afford it. Stupid thing is instead I am on shed loads of pain meds which don't work even half as well which must cost the NHS a lot more than £30 per week but they won't listen to reason, can't get it on NHS in England, I fought it as far as I could up to my CQC but they still wouldn't pay. .... Frustrated yes I am very and angry too. Hope you are rich cos it really DOES work well if you go to a properly well trained person who can give you deep tissue massage NOT any other kind of massage. Fortunately while my m,um paid and got this treatment my therapist worked with Olympic athletes as well so she was really good. Best of luck.
