Not getting my hopes up.

Hi all.

Not been on for a while as just been cracking on with day to day living and the pain and fuzzy head from the drugs etc.

I had an ACDF to c6-c7 last July. All was well for the first 5 weeks then the pain gradually started to creep up again. After seeing my surgeon that hinted that the pain was in my head, or that he would take the cage out of my neck ( a mega major op), I went for a 2nd opinion.

Found this doc to be a lot more through and helpful - MRI done within 2 weeks ( had been waiting 4 months with old doc for one), and she stated it was chronic pain and suggested I have an epidural steroid injection.

After waiting a few months I finally had it done yesterday. I don't want to get my hopes up but I am so far getting minimal pain if any after having it done.

I went against the advice of the doc to reduce mst after having the injection and decided to reduce it to its minimum before, so I could feel the pain and see if the injection had worked. I'm resting completely for a few days on advice of the doc and strict orders of the hubby.

Just hope that it's done the trick, so that I'm able to get some life back and return to work.

Hope this gives others a bit of hope. Will keep you informed over the next few weeks as to how it goes.

Thanks rose wine. Still off the mst and managing with paracetamol, ibuprofen and the odd dose of oramorph. Pain no where near as bad as previous, but then I have took it extremely easy the past few days. Test will be this week with the hubby working away and me doing everything for the kids again. Fingers crossed. Xx

Hi katie hope you are feeling an improvement after your injection. Can I ask what is ACDF.? I have steroid injections into my coccyx and find excellent albeit temporary relief.Good luck x

Hi p1pp1ns

Acdf is anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. It's an op where they went in through the front of my neck to remove the disc and used a cage to fuse bone together. Not the best description lol but if you google it I'm sure you can find more info. Glad the injections work on your coccyx. My problems are higher up in my neck
