My mum has been living with ovarian cancer since 2020. After debulking surgery and many treatments, her cancer was declared platinum-resistant. Following this, she received 6 rounds of Doxorubicin + Bevacizumab, which kept her stable. However, she still has many carcinomatosis nodes in her abdominal area, and we are worried that this stabilization won't last long.
I want to ask if anyone has experience with returning to platinum-based drugs (Cisplatin, Carboplatin) after being declared platinum-resistant. I hope this is possible because she lived 6 months without platinum while she was on Doxorubicin.
Thank you.

As far as I am aware violettatolz there is no going back. The only thing I did see was a plan to re challenge platinum chemo but this must have been a trial and I can’t see anything about it now. xx
My Clear Cell OVCA is also platinum resistant. Talk to your mum’s doctor about this, but I have a feeling they will have other options for her to try. I was on long-term of Avastin, which kept things in check. When that finally stopped working, they put me on immunotherapy, which has lowered my CA 125 back to within normal range. Good luck to your mum and to you.
As my Onc is suggesting Avastin maintenance I'm a bit skeptical so glad the immunotherapy is working it didn't work for me, but it was worth trying a long shot as my cells don't have a PDL1 expression. What were your side effects like with the Avastin? How long did it work appreciate it!
I didn’t have the many side effects, unlike chemo. Some fatigue and joint pain.
I took Avastin for at least 4-5 years and it kept the tumors on my psoas muscle in check. When one started growing , they switched me to immuno . I hope Avastin keeps you in maintenance.
Hello, I'm in the states fellow survivors have had a platinum rechallenge typically its done as an inpatient I believe overnight with a slow infusion to address side effects 6 months without platinum it could be introduced. I just finished 6 carbo/taxol/keytruda for a recurrence mid way and post chemo pet scans were clear they continued with the keytruda which didn't work as my CA125 started rising again my 3 month pet scan showed although tiny back in a stubborn lymph node just had my 2nd carbo only infusion yesterday to see if i'm still sensitive CA125 will be drawn in 3 weeks. I also started letrozole as mine is low grade ER+
I became platinum-resistant in November of last year which was a real shock as the Carboplatin had been working well for around 8 months. This March, after two more chemo options failed in very quick succession, I was put on to IV Cisplatin, with tablet Etoposide. On discussing the platinum-resistance with my oncologist, he said that some people respond to this combo, even when Carbo- has failed. For the moment, this appears to be the case for me too.
Hi there, My mom did respond to carboplatin after olaparib but had some reaction which forced us to stop it. I want to ask how were the side effect on doxil and bevacizumab and how you managed it. My mom is about to start on that soon..thanks a ton
