Special Person update

Hi lovelies,

Saw my Special Person’s oncologist today and it went far better than expected, so as some of you are aware we were expecting to be offered either weekly Taxol or the DICE trial.

Her oncologist is pleased with her and has decided she can have a further couple more months off treatment as her CA125 is only 305 we were expecting it to be through the roof.

She will have to start treatment in coming months but back in September her oncologist labelled her platinum resistant however shes said today that platinum treatment will be open again where she’s had 6 months off it. If the platinum treatment doesn’t work then she’ll be offered the DICE trial and go from there.

Hope you’re all as well as can be and enjoyed your Easter 🐣 weekend xxx

I’m a bit ‘Meh’ at the moment. Heading to cycle 6 of this lot of chemo, with no real confidence as to the impact it has had on the cancer, but feeling relieved that I have actually (almost) completed a full line of treatment, having been on this treadmill since August, with two failed drugs along the way. Hoping for a little break at the end, and maybe a PARP inhibitor. Not many treatment options left for me otherwise, but not giving up yet!

CallmeMum in reply toYoshbosh

Definitely don’t give up we keep thinking they’re out of options when we see her oncologist and there always seems to be other things coming up xxx

I’m sorry you are feeling a bit down. You’ve had a rough time lately. I really hope you will have good results after the chemo and also get a chance to build up your strength and energy.

You have cheered all of us with your good news.

I hope you too can relax for a bit and both of you can get out to the gardens, either to enjoy or to refresh.

Hugs,

Refresh for me and her definitely start planning a few bits without worrying about what the hospital has to say every few weeks xxx

Yay, that's good news indeed. I was thinking of you yesterday.

It must have been a tough last few days, when you expect to hear the worst.

Bet you both will enjoy the treatment free summer. :)

xx. Maus

CallmeMum in reply toMaus123

Definitely will be enjoying as much as possible before heading back on chemo. We’ll be at the hospital on a 4 weekly basis for now but having no treatment in between will also give her better quality and hopefully give her body chance to reset ready for line 8 of any type of treatment (including maintenance drugs) xxx

Great news and how lovely to have the summer off treatment hopefully xx Also great to be offered a platinum chemo again the more choice the better x

So nice to hear good things xx

CallmeMum profile image
CallmeMum in reply toBeeWild

Definitely more choice the better, although it does make me wonder if they make it up as they go because I was under the impression when you were resistant to a chemo you couldn’t go back on it... who knows all I know is I’m not arguing xxx

Some positive news at last, I am sure you will both enjoy the time away from treatment. I am hoping to get to 12 months post 2nd line platinum treatment so if the beast rears it’s ugly head I can have 3rd line platinum.

Ellsey xx

CallmeMum profile image
CallmeMum in reply toellseybellsey

You should be able to have 3rd line platinum as it has to be a minimum of 6 months according to my special person’s oncologist but I don’t know if every area is different??? Hopefully it’ll go away and not come back xxx

Good news. Always worried about the "no more we can do" comment and when several (or more!) options are listed, there is a calming feeling! I also don't get the platinum sensitive vs resistant by the fact that you aren't on chemo for over 6 months. But take it!

I am glad your special person has some time to recover, and to see her granddaughter. oxoxoxo Judy

CallmeMum profile image
CallmeMum in reply toMaxjor

I don’t know how they can label someone platinum resistant without a definitive test to which there are none for it! It’s also confusing saying platinum is available again when she’s been labelled platinum resistant..... hopefully she’ll enjoy her time off chemo and make more memories xxx
