Anybody else have trouble getting covered on holiday insurance, my bank HSBC who cover me on my account, will give me holiday cover but will not cover me against anything to do with ovarian cancer, told them all removed via surgery and fit to travel. I had borderline stage 2c.

My Bank, barclays withdraw insurance for ovarian cancer if the cancer has spread beyond the ovaries so I think that might mean you would be covered by them. A reason to change bank if that's so? xx Good luck finding holiday insurance. xx Annie

Blimey Annie, they will still cover? I m with Barclays and they told me if there's a diagnosis of ca they won't cover it, no matter what stage, I would check that out. Mind you I claimed when I was first diagnosed, so they may have changed it now.

Sue, I wonder if it's the same travel policy? Mine comes at a cost of about £14 per month and it's all part and parcel of my current account. It covers all sorts of insurance - RAC cover, small items, additional year's warranty, loss of keys, etc. etc. I phoned them to say i had ovarian cancer and they said if it was contained within the ovaries they'd continue to provide full travel cover. I've now had an amendment to say all travel is covered bar medical issues linked to ovarian cancer. I have to say in the five years I've had this sort of bank account they've been marvellous. Replaced without question a pair of Chanel sunglasses that fell into the sea, an I-Pad that smashed, and have covered repairs on electrical appliances for an additional year.

Oh dear this probably sounds like an ad - but it seems fair to say I've had a good service from them. xxx

Hi Annie, it sounds like it. I have to say they didn't quibble about paying out on my holiday that had to be cancelled due to my diagnosis, but they said they wouldn't cover anything can related from then on, so I get the call cover elsewhere now.

Hi,

I think it depends how long ago you have finished your treatment...

In the past my bank told me I'd be covered after six months free of treatment...I am not sure where I stand now having just finished chemo for the third time (I am not sure whether the six month rule still applies)

However I have got my insurance through MIA you will find them online (but will need to ring them up) they are very good, cheap and sensitive to talk to, also if you have bank insurance you can just insure yourself for your previous condition and not duplicate the insurance by paying for loss of baggage etc.... so you can ask them what to knock off which brings down the price.

Best wishes love x G x

Try searching for 'insurance' in the box top right Ladyone1 - you should find a LOAD of strings about this.

As you have insurance rather than shopping for new policies find out from them what it would be if you exclude OC from the policy for your trip - as long as you are well, feel well, the chances of anyting cropping up is fairly remote, but only you can judge that. YOu may find that with this exclusion you can still cover everything else. It's what I had to do to make my week in Rome affordable last year.

Love

Hi they will cover me for normal travel insurance but exclude anything to do with ovarian cancer, so perhaps for a week away and likelihood of any issues I should just go. Thanks for advice Sue xx

Hi there

As another borderline patient I have been assured that the chance of any future problems as a result of this tumour is extremely low. Surely the risk of this happening in a 2 week holiday is so low that it is worth gaining the benefit of a break formal.

Best wishes xxx

Hi there, I have used MIA (making insurance accessible) twice now and think they are very good. Defo worth a call. Good luck! X

There is also insurewith, who I have found cheaper than Mia sometimes.

I also have used MIA, pleasant to deal with and competitive on price.

Good luck!

Hi,

We told our insurers - via the bank travel agency - an account hubby has and they said that if I wasn't undergoing any treatment at the time of trip - they didn't need to know! Makes sense, lets face it, with our illness, nothing is going to happen overnight and we should have time to get home. otherwise make sure you have the money to fly home if need be. We flew to the states for my daughters wedding in September after finishing chemo for the third time in June for recurring PPC.
