I have been for my 4th chemo today, and after the one 4 weeks ago my CA125 has gone down to 21 which is good. I have 2 more sessions to go,so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will reduce to single figures
Take care ladies.x

Thats brilliant news Caledra, and long may it continue. Just what we all need to hear.lve been for my blood tests today to Christie's mcr very busy. Fingers crossed for good results on Thursday. Love & hugs SheilaFxxx
Caleda, I've had some unexpected good news. When I had my scan results about 3 weeks, the radiologist had reported that a pelvic lymph node had grown and it was more than likely cancerous as prev 3 nodes that I had removed in December by Prof CF. They had an MDT meeting to discuss next stage i.e confirm by PET scan and possibly radiotherapy. My oncologist said that the 2 male radiogists looked at my scans and disagree with the lady radiologist and they said in their opinion nothing has changed and the lymph nodes have not increased in size!!?? I am very happy as you can image as I'd just finished 6 months of carbo/gemzar and if I'd had progression whilst on this chemo then my oncologist said I would be platinum refractory. I cannot understand how she could have made that error very bizarre. I will be having regular scans every 3 to 4 months as my CA125 shows them nothing (words if oncologist) as it was only 3.4 on recurrence. Lowest it's ever been is 1 yes 1.!! It's now 2.8. Very unreliable. I am so relieved but I've had 2 weeks of being very upset and had caused me great anxiety thinking I'm platinum refractory and no longer respond to chemo. Im ok now and just had to put it all behind me and start living and enjoying my life again.
Thats sounds awful Win, but at least you know where you stand now which is good news. As you said yourself you can just get on with life now, following all those discussions. The way to look at it is,that everyone makes mistakes sometimes, and it is good that there are many people at the MDT meetings etc. Wishing you luck.x
I think you’re on the same path as my mum. She has stopped after 4 carbo/caelyx with a ca125 of 14. Are you going in to a parb afterwards? Any idea which one?
Hello,The aswer to your question is no I am not going onto a parp. I had Rucaparib following second line treatment carbo/Gem and it worked for approx 15 months. If your mum is offered a parp then my advice is to to take it, as some ladies on here have longer time before a recurrence.
Thanks for your reply and advice. She is trying to decide which one as the onc doesn’t have a preference. I think we will head for the rucaparib but not completely decided yet. Hope you continue to feel well!
Thank you Delia, It is becoming a little worrying, as once i complete the 6 cycles of chemo, there may only be one option which is to pay for Avastin privately as it is not available to me for 3rd line chemo.
My Oncologist said I was in good shape and so maintenance drug appears to be the right decision.
Caleda ,I'm doing ok at the moment ,had three months on a break from chemo, saw my oncologist Tuesday and scan results show no change since last one ,so more chemo free time ,unless my ca125 shoots right up then he'll review it again , totally surprised, fully expected the scan to show progression and be back on chemo next week , so I'll try and enjoy the chemo free time..Your news is very promising.
I am so pleased that you are doing well at the moment Cheryl, as you definitely need a break from chemo. I was hoping to get away with 4 chemo, but the Oncologist has said I need 6. I might do watch and wait after this if I can. He wants me to try Avastin, but I am not really sure about this. Fingers crossed that you stay the same for the foreseeable future. I think sometimes we have to be grateful for the good times, but it is extremely hard when you do not know what is coming next. Take care.x
I've never been offered Avastin ,will have to ask oncologist at next appointment ,I've had paclitaxol and Carboplatin for first second and third line then Rucaparib ( didn't work) then caelyx and Carboplatin.. Good luck with the rest of your treatment.Cheryl x
