Immunotherapy with Avastin : Good afternoon... - My Ovacome
Immunotherapy with Avastin
Not on the same treatment as you, but I had 2 enlarged lymph nodes in my chest that appeared mid-chemo that turned out to be non-malignant and not an infection. They were described as a 'sarcoid reaction' and have started reducing now. Not sure whether that helps!
I'm on a trial the Prompt Trial for Keytruda only, how did you get Keytruda and Avastin are you in the States and is this a trial?
Hi Sue (im Sue too!). I see from your profile that like me, you've also done carbo/caelyx, and then weekly Taxol. I'm due to start weekly Taxol soon, and am interested to hear how you found it, and more about your Trial? I'm BRCA neg and couldn't tolerate niraparib unfortunately, as it was working... Thanks x
Hi Sue, I found the weekly taxol okay but towards the end my stomach was suffering quite badly. I have been taking pro biopics since I stopped the taxol which have made me feel much better. I’ve been on the prompt trial for a couple months, had a scan on Friday and should find out how it’s going next week. Wasn’t it possible for you to try a different PARP in case the side effects would be easier. Take care Sue xx
Thanks for responding. Because I'm BRCA neg, niraparib was the only one I was allowed to try - I took it in preference to Avastin for maintenance, and then found out Avastin is only approved as maintenance straight after surgery. Although my Onc says Avastin on its own is not very successful. Let me know how your scan goes xx
Hi dear..Yes I am in States..was denied first..working with 3 oncologist plus my surgeon .I might go for trial ..CA 125 is rising.Pet scan showed activity..Hope you tolerate the treatment good and it is effective.🙏🙏🙏
Yes Keytruda is not normally prescribed in the UK and it is interesting you got it with Avastin. I had Avastin with front line chemo which worked but not completely. All the best to you. Sue xx
Avastin has kept me going. I have an infusion every 6 weeks. It has kept my non-operable psoas muscle OVCA (DX in 2014) from enlarging. Minimal side effects. I’m so grateful it keeps my CA125 down.
