immunotherapy for OVCA

just wanted to provide an update on using immunotherapy, in my case Opdivo and Yervoy.

Some background: 6 years after my initial diagnosis of OVCA, it was discovered via a raised CA125 and subsequent CT Scan, that I had developed 3 tumors on my Psoas muscle of my back. These were classified as ovarian cancer that had migrated. I had various chemo’s , radiation, and Avastin as treatment. Note: Avastin helped me stay on maintenance for a long time.

Recently, my one tumor had grown, while the others stayed the same size. I just had a follow up CT scan to see how the immunotherapy was working. I was overjoyed to hear that my tumor has reduced in size ! Just wanted to provide this update. It may be something you want to discuss with your own oncologist as a treatment option. Wishing us all good luck on this “journey.”

Hi Leniko. How are the side effects? Did you have any special mutations that enabled you to get immunotherapy? I hope it gets rid of everything!

Thank you Delia . I think one reason I was put on the immunotherapy is I couldn’t tolerate anymore Carbo, and Gemzar wasn’t working. I had been on Avastin for years for maintenance. But after awhile, it wasn’t doing the job anymore. Re side effects from Immuno: I know that these drugs list all kinds of potential side effects, but fortunately I didn’t have many. Mine were limited to itching, Skin rash, and fatigue. I hope this helps.
