Hi everyone happy new year to you all.

I went yesterday to see my oncologist and my ca125 has gone up in the last few weeks, was 17, 24,32 and now 38 I'm on avastin every 3 weeks and coping quite well on it, but the oncologist wants me to have a scan as she says the numbers are going up, so quite fed up know and then to top it off I had protein in my urine so she wants me to wait a week for my next avastin trying not to read too much into it.

Hello Ossett, hope the results from the scan are good and you can continue with the Avastin.

Did you know that if you click on the downward arrow, near the Like button, one if the options allows you to edit amend / correct the title and text? I often use it as I spot mistakes as soon as I press Send!

All the best!

Oh Helen. I think I may have done something wrong re your reply. I'm on my kindle with one finger typing in the middle of the night. I was glad to hear a way to change a post so just pressed the arrow on your post to see what came up. All I saw very briefly was, report. I just touched the screen so fast that I didn't see what had popped up after report and then it was gone. What I'm trying to say is that I may have reported your post by mistake. I'm sorry to you and admin. Old lady, middle of the night, no sleep equals bad combination. XXXXXXXXX

Not to worry, I'm sure Anna will work out that you didn't mean to report me! Otherwise I'll doubtless feel like I'm being hauled up in front of the Headmistress and be kept in after school!

You can only edit your own posts, for obvious reasons.

Hi Osset...my CA125 also wobbled about on Avastin...but I finished it NED. Let’s hope yours is similar. It can be affected by bugs and infections...so maybe you have had one recently. Lxx

Hi Lyndy I did say this to my oncologist that it seems to go up slightly on avastan and she said she had not known this.

Numbers can go up on Avastin - quite a few of us have experienced this. I think someone once said they look at symptoms, CA125 and scans to get their picture - they never judge on CA125 alone. I had numbers going up and no disease progression while on Avastin - it's not an exact science! Hope all will be well.

I've only had avastin with chemo so far and CA125 dropped but still well over the norm and chemo just finished. Would be interested to hear more about avastin alone as am hoping to continue on that. I really hope it works for you. xxx

Hi kryssy, if u get the chance to be put on avastin take it. After two lots of major surgery and two of chemo I was left with 4 small tumours, they could only give me more chemo and was classed terminal ( rubbishs trying to get insurance with that word hanging over u). Then I was offered Avastin would have said yes to anything, to keep me going that was not chemo with all its bad effects. I was lucky I started just before NICE. Jumped in and said no more than 18 per patient, I have now had 64 infusions and most people don't know I'm ill, I also work part time in the summer. It has given me high blood pressure, no problems a tablet sort that, occasionally I have protein in urine it's stopped for that to clear, lots of my joints ache but I'm old so they probably would any way. There are other things to but I'm alive, and have seen the births of my two grandchildren which I never thought I'd see, so if it's offered grab it with both hands.

Happy new year . Michele x

Hi Michele

I've been on avastin since August. It's been added into my chemo. I was told it will continue for 12 to 18 months but have to have my PET first and then discuss with onc. In the meantime I will enjoy a couple chemo free weeks. No problem with avastin. Just the carbo messed up my blood a bit. I'll keep fingers crossed for us both xxx

I had Avastin on its own for over a year and my CA125 inched up slowly. I was was scanned several times but still NED. Please try not to worry, the drug worked very well for me despite aches and pains and hopeless finger nails, a small price to pay. Best wishes. Sophia x

Hi Ossett......I had started avastin with gemcitibine and carboplatin last summer. This was for a first recurrence. The tumor(liver) did shrink by half after the first 3 rounds of treatment, then no shrinkage after two more rounds. So, I was put on the avastin only...every three weeks. I tolerated the avastin fine, but as it turned out, a subsequent c.t scan showed progression of my disease. My ca125 also started to rise after stopping the gem/carbo. I'm now on taxol along with the avastin.Every one is different, so I would wait to see what the scan shows before getting worried. I'll be sending good wishes your way. Judyved

Than you for your reply I am waiting for a scan and I have decided that I can't change anything by worrying so I will wait and let you all know what happens.
