After a few weeks of no treatment as Caelyx didn't work and to have a kidney stent I've finally started my weekly Taxol this afternoon, treatment went smoothly, yea yea!!!

I'm not on any steroids but plenty of anti-sickness tablets, also 2 injections to keep my white cell count up (is that right)

Here goes, 17 to go

Have a good weekend ladies xx

Ooh this is very encouraging, after your setback with the Caelyx. Fingers crossed this works for you and you get through it with minimal side effects. Those injections for your white blood cells are meant to help a lot too -- I've been neutropenic for a few weeks and delaying treatment; if my count is still low next week I'll start on the injections too. Best of luck - have a lovely restful weekend! Kerry xx

I hope it works well for you. From what I've heard it seems an effective treatment.

Brilliant start KMAllen! Long may things go this way. Hope the taxol really gives it some stick. How was the kidney stent op? I think I'm due for one. xx Annie

Thanks Annie, kidney stent was done under a local anaesthetic which was a bit sore but it was done in 15 minutes straight forward, I've had a bad back for a few days so they put me on antibiotics to make sure it wasn't an infection and must admit it's fine now, I'm aware it's there but no pain. Hope it goes well if you do have one, I have kidney issues before. OC so probably the best option for me. The stent is supposed to protect the kidney, that's how it was explained to me.

Let me know how things are best wishes xx karen

That sounds okay, well one down, and the injections will definitely help keep the white cells up. Glad you got plenty anti sick and heres hoping for a great result this time around

Thanks Suzuki xx

The caylex didn't really work for me either and I am platinum resistant so weekly taxol is my next treatment although I am about to do a little phase 1b trial of something new. No guarantee it will work but it's worth a try. There has been some very encouraging things in the news about low dose weekly treatments with the suggestion that they may be better at stabilising the disease than big cycles of treatment. Good luck and keep in touch.

Thanks Jo-Bo that's encouraging to hear, I got a bit worried when the Caelyx didn't work. Exactly definitely worth a try, good luck with your treatment, you keep in touch to xx
