Hello Georgie, Yes I took Vitamin B6 throughout and had virtually no skin problems. I found carbo/caelyx a vast improvement on carbo/taxol with the added bonus it is four weekly not three. Hope it suits you as well, Rita

Thank you Rita

Did the Hospital put you on it ? or did you go to a health shop and get it?

I was thinking I would start taking it now before I have the chemo on Friday.

Is there a recommended dose?

Regards Georgie

Hi Georgie, I found the info on a site from Oncolex which sets out some helpful stuff about Caelyx and ordered it from Swansons via Amazon. I think I worked out that alternating one and two capsules daily gave the recommended dose. Rita

Hello Georgie. My Mum is on 2nd line Caelyx. After three chemos her hands became very sore, swollen and started cracking. She was in such discomfort. As a result her fourth chemo was delayed for just over a week during which time her hands improved. Her feet were never as bad as the hands. She was rubbing on Cows' Udder Cream then I discovered Aveeno and apparently you can get it on prescription. Most chemists stock it. My Mum's oncologist recommended another cream too and gave some to my Mum but can't remember off the top of my head the name of it. Anyway, to the point, I'd read that B6 can be helpful so I told Mum. Her oncologist's registrar actually gave her a prescription and she is taking B6 Pyridoxal and she thinks it's really helping. I keep on telling Mum to drink plenty of water as it flushes out the toxins but I don't think she drinks enough!! Take a horse to water and all that!! Also, Mum takes ice packs to bed in a insulated bag but make sure you wrap them in something before holding!! Best wishes. Jane

I saw a recommendation on this forum for high strength Vit B6 whilst taking Caelyx which I took but unfortunately I only had two sessions as my Consultant did not think it was the right treatment for me. I was fine. Too slow acting for me. More progression I am afraid so now on Rotterdam Regime which I am finding quite tough. Weekly treatment.

I am sorry you are finding the treatment tough.

This will be my 5th line of chemo if it does not work I am not sure

what will be next!

Best wishes Georgie
