Caelyx and stomach cramp
hi I had stomach cramps from constipation, but ok once I’d ‘been’ I would talk to your team xx
Hi Clipper. I had horrid stomach cramps with Caelyx and my other two lines of chemo therapy. My oncologist had nothing to help me with this pain. It became so debilitating that I had to stop chemo. I did quite a bit of research on mistletoe injections which seems to help cancer patients feel better. While mistletoe is readily available in Europe, it is not FDA approved in the United States. However, I found an MD in Denver, Colorado and was able to fly there and after a lengthy discussion, I obtained a prescription. To the best of my knowledge, there is only one pharmacy in the US has mistletoe available. It is currently being tested by John Hopkins (a respected institution here in the US). The safety profile was satisfactory for me. I felt that if I could not continue chemo, I would die sooner from the cancer. So I began mistletoe injections (twice weekly) and I restarted chemo a week later without the horrid cramps. I still had a mild tummy ache from time to time, which was quite tolerable. I told my oncologist about my actions. He added mistletoe to my list of medications. He never said anything negative about the mistletoe. I’m not pushing it. But I know how awful those cramps were and I just wanted to let you know what worked for me. I suggest that you discuss mistletoe injections with your oncologist to see what he thinks. I sure hope you find a solution for your cramps.
Best wishes

Hi Clipper I was just wondering how you are. I've been having horrible abdominal cramps today (3 weeks after carboplatin and caelyx) and I can't eat a thing as I feel so sick. X
