Hello ladies hope you are all doing as well as can be expected!
I started my trail yesterday MOLTO Cistplatin/Caelyx and was looking for some help and tips to stay as good as can be expected particularily with the Caelyx I have had Cistplatin before. The leaflet says to avoid hot drinks, I love a brew when I get up can anyone shed any light on this is it just for the first few days or do I need to change my drinking habits until off the treatment. Drinking tea luke warm just doesn't do it for me
Hi Alison I'm on the Pissaro trial at the Christie and carbo/caelyx chemo. I can't say I've noticed any change when I have a hot drink but I have noticed dry and shiny hands and feet so keep moisturising I use aveeno. Good luck with your treatment
Hi Alison, I have just finished my course of Carboplatin and caelyx for my first reoccurenceand I have to say I think I have been very, very lucky because I have had very few side effects. I must admit when I first started the course and saw the array of different side effects that I could experience ,I thought oh s.t!!!!!!. I did have a short term problem with constipation at the beginning of the course but that was easilycured with a couple of sachets of Movalax, highly recommended. The only real problem that I have struggled with is fatique, and my energy levels have really been depleted Some women are able to continue working and walk for miles , I must admit just occasionally it has taken be all my time to walk to the end of the road other days I HAVE ,managed to walk the dog regularly. Nearly forgot to answer the question you originally asked, I love my coffee hot but initially I did drink it Luke warm then I gradually pumped up the temperature and had no problems. Did moisturise my feet and hands throughout, no problems
Also been on a couple of trips to a friend in Wales, no problems with socialising out for meals, having family and friends to stay.
The other good news is that cross fingers at the half way mark the half way scan showed that the regime was working, .ca 125 11 ,,!!!!!!! And MRI showed all tumours had shrunk. Has the end of treatment MRI yesterday have to wait till Oct 18th to get results. Seems a long wait but hubby and I are treating ourselves to a week in Tenerife first week in Oct can,t wait.
.So I hope this ramble has been helpful and I so hope you have the minimal side effects and the regime takes you into a long remission. Cheers Chris
Hi Chris thanks for your reply its really encouraging like you I read the leaflet and thought omg!! I'm really pleased you have had minimal side effects sounds like you have like a OC normal life whilst you have been treated! I hope you results are good on the 18th keep us posted! and enjoy your week in Tenerife I'm sure you will have a fab time celebrating end of treatment!!
Hi Alison, I have just had no5 carbo/caelyx and my experience has been pretty much the same as Chris's above but also have low magnesium levels for which I have sachets each day! So wishing you all the best and hope it goes smoothly for you. I have found it much more do-able than carbo/taxol.
