Does anyone else get anaemic on Gem, Carbo and Avastin. No wonder I'm tired! Sorry about all these posts today. Lovis x

Hi lovis, yes I got anaemic on that regimen. Some of my friends have had a blood transfusion if their bloods don't spring back to within the normal range. My daughters suggested I take an iron tonic. I told them it was lack of haemoglobin and not lack of iron but then I did see the point in their argument so take a swig of Metatone from time to time.

When do you go back? Is it another 3 weeks? The Carbo Gem Avastin regime does seem to be draining. xx Annie

I also feel ao tired after these chemos. I take supplements and try and eat healthy to get blood levels and imnune system and bowels in check. It seems to help. So far only missed chemo by 1week. Im in 5th chemo today and last one in 3 weeks. Keep trying. X

Hello Lovis, I just finishes the gem/carb and am now on Avastin. I only got one day 8 top up and missed the other 5. I had cycles delayed but never canceled altogether.

Good luck with the spinach & watercress, but yum yum to the beef xxxxx

Hi Lovis, I needed 2 units of blood on Carbo/Gem. I only got 2 day 8. Had a few day 1 postponed and had A course of injections to boost white blood cells.

Good luck, hope it doesn't get too bad,

Chris x

You could also try Guinness if you like it lol I did x

I found the regime hard going had to have blood transfusions twice plus a platelet transfusion as well. The dose was adjusted a couple of times and I also had a couple of 8 day sessions delayed. Seems fairly common I'm afraid. Still feeling much better now just on the Avastin only.

Good luck

Hi Lovis,

I wasn't on that regimen, just 3 weekly Taxol/Carbo x6 - I got anaemic at the end & the hospital was just going to send me home to see if my bloods recovered i.e. delay treatment by a week. I really didn't want to be in the same boat a week later so dug my heels in and asked why I couldn't have a blood transfusion & after consulting the onc they gave me a transfusion which worked. I also had Lenograstim injections for the last 3 cycles. This may not be relevant at all to your situation but I think I would want some answers. I hope they'll be able to get you back on track very soon.

Love Libby xx

Hi Lovis,

I found my bloods went down on Gem/Avastin. Rest helped hugely, I just took it really easy, forced myself to take a nap in the afternoon and it seemed to work. Take care. Cathanne
