Flow Ann I am about to start cisplatin gem. Do you think it has worked for you so far? I’m just wondering why you do not feel a 7th and 8th cycle would be right...? Did you find the cisplatin gem tolerable? I’m worried about it and would appreciate any advice you may have from your experience of it. As for oral tablets there are various treatments but I think it would be better for you to speak to one of the Ovacome nurses on the helpline, or to get another oncologist’s opinion.
You seem to have done well so far, hope you carry on.
It is just that for me I am also on Statin 40mg also and I figure it may have make my knee muscle rather weak esp after finishing my 6 cycle. I feel so exhausted. I just worried if I keep on doing transfussion it keeps on killing all my good cells and bad cells and make me weaker. I find difficulty climbing overhead bridge
By the way I live in city of Singapore so no ovacome community nor nurses nor any ovarian group. I goggle all my info on the web.
Hi, I just finished almost a year of being Avastin after chemo. I had overian cancer stage 4 with secondary in my lung. Last CA 125 count was 6. I see oncologist tomorrow and find out what last CA125 tumour count is after off Avastin for 4 weeks.
I was lucky as Avastin just went on PBS list in Australia about a year or so before I went on it.
CA 125 at 44 is not bad, it’s getting down, Yahoooo.
Hi Flo. My situation begins similar to yours. Diagnosed age 65 High grade 3C. 2 x ops. 1st remission lasted 18 months. Then chemo again for the usual 6 sessions: Carbo/Caelyx/Avastin. Straight into remission again but with Avastin continuing as maintenance - now for 3.5 years (3-weekly for 30 mins). Avastin has suited me very well to date. Minimal side effects. I had a port installed in my arm for the regular infusions. I'm fit and well. Hope that's a help. Best wishes. Pauline.
On the 12 July when I see my onco for review. Will ask her re benefits of hormonal tablets (oral) which she has not given me yet as I know she will be continuing my (3 weekly 30 mins Avastin) Thank you Pauline66 for your feedback.
I relapsed while on frontline chemo and was offered caelyx but I decided to pay for a consultation at the london clinic and am now on a phase one clinical trial. Your treatment seems to be working but this could be an option in the future. My oncologist didn't tell me about phase one trials so it seems you have to take things into your own hands sometimes.
