Praise for my GP. !!

Last Wednesday I had the monthly blood test ... two fays later at about 5.30pm I had a phone call from one of my GPs. He had reviewed my results and wondered if I was feeling Ok. As it happens I was feeling off ... full of a cold and had developed a cough. As a result he prescribed some antibiotics & explained that he could see both my WCC and neutrofils were on the high side, a possible indicator of bacterial infection.

It is the first time in my life that a GP has called me to ask if I am unwell !!!

Great stuff.

Christine

I know exactly what you mean, something like this makes you feel like you have a functioning relationship with these important people. And of course they are important to us, I'm not being sarcastic, which is why it all feels so dysfunctional when they seem to avoid patients as if terrified we'll waste their time.

Hope you feel better soon,

Luce x

Good stuff that is what is meant to happen x

It is nice to know that the drs do actually read the blood tests when they come back. Hope your feeling a bit better.xxx

That's great Christine - my GPs have phoned every time my liver results have come back dodgy so I too have a great deal to thank them for. Tilda xx

Hello Christine,

Well that's a co-incidence. My GP rang me last thursday concerned about high white cell count from Tuesday's blood test, he asked me into surgery to give me the once over to find out what might be going on. Everything seemed OK he said, but hey-ho I got up on Saturday morning with streaming nose and eyes, so a common cold was the culprit.

It is very reassuring to know that the GP's are checking our blood results properly. I am very grateful too. Hope you are feeling better. June x

must be something in the air - I just had a spontaneous phone call from the private rheumatologist I saw wanting to check up to see how things were going with the NHS. As they aren't going well, the private rheum. offered to phone the consultant and see if she could make sure I definitely got seen on the next available clinic! Lovely person.

How very nice of the doctor. You lucky thing, just wish all doctors were as thoughtful.
