Praise for Grampian Health Service

I received a shielding follow up call from my GP practice yesterday. To check: I had medication delivery, food delivery, which doctors I see and in which department, that I understood all aspects of shielding, that I knew to call 111 immediately if I develop any Covid symptoms, my next of kin contact details, did I have any immediate concerns regarding my health and wellbeing, and was there anything else they could help with....

While I think the Gov have many failings, have been slow to react to the pandemic in many regards, that testing is shambolic, that the population are treated like fools, that they pretend to be open and disclose information....... I think, here in our region of Scotland we, at least, are receiving good care.

Well done NHS Scotland, especially Grampian.

I have had very good care from my GP and Lothian Health Board throughout the pandemic. And like or loath her politics Nicola Sturgeon is giving out a clear and consistent message everyday, she presents well, a good orator.

I agree, my respect for her is all the greater for her handling of Covid-19 and all the pressures and difficulties it brings.

That sounds really good. That's a GP practice worth keeping!I've heard nothing from mine in Wales in fact my consultant in England wrote to me and I had to write to my G P to get myself out on the Welsh list as for some reason known only to them the Welsh have a separate list and I needed to be in the Welsh list for help with supermarkets prescriptions delivery etc. This was three weeks ago and having heard nothing I checked with Tesco and still not on list!I know the surgery is probably busy but I feel completely alone in this and that I can't rely on them for support.

Just opened my post and finally I got the official letter from Welsh government. So I think I must have been in the 21000 people they said yesterday they had missed!

That is excellent!

I had to figure it out myself after getting a shielding letter from Rheumatology. The info was not sent by that Dept or by my GP, to Gov. So, I’m not identifiable on their list yet.

I had to call my GP yesterday about this, and was told she can get me added. No communication, not organised/informed.

Not heard from Gov Dept behind the email address I was given to contact on Monday in regard to the list.

My son living here will just have to go out again for both of us even though he might bring the virus home.

Thanks, jane1964

I had a delivery from them a few weeks ago, mainly frozen meat and veg. Also ordered a box of fresh fruit and veg today from a local farm doing delivery. And wonderful ice cream is to be delivered from a local farm a few miles away too; ordered it today as well, lovely treat!

My son went out for a few groceries including kitchen roll, hairspray for me, frozen fish for me.. so until things change so that I can go out again, and as long as he stays well, we will be okay. Hope you are too!

Hi there,

I'm so impressed with the level of care you are getting. It's got to be the best available at the moment - maybe I should move there!

Meanwhile, back in my "Gods own county" of Yorkshire, I've not had anything from anyone.

I'm just about managing though as I book a Tesco slot by staying up until the early hours and my local farm shop have expended their delivery service to include an excellent choice of food. I now have fruit delivered every week!

I rang my GP today to tell them I couldn't really walk the 2 miles to the surgery to have my blood test done. I gave up driving when I first got RD. The receptionist then looked on my record and told me I am in the high risk category and am entitled to a home visit, which will happen soon (but no idea when).

That's the only communication I've had - my phone call to them.

I guess I've fallen through a crack somewhere. I do get the impression that it depends on how well each GP surgery is managed to a large degree.

Anyhow, I've massive respect for Nicola - just wish she could take on the whole UK for us. I'm not opposed to an invasion from the north!

Take care.

Your GP should be getting you onto the Gov list. I asked mine yesterday. Then you’d get a letter and entitlement to support.

I love N Yorks. All my sons were born there. Beautiful, love Sutton Bank, love many places there.

But I was born in Scotland and moved back 23 years ago after living in York for approx 23 years.
