I was on Enbrel, but the injection site reactions where getting too big and annoying! Any information on simponi and what other drugs you are taking will be greatly received.
Thank you

Hi Narna,
Sorry I don't have any info, however if you type 'simponi' into the search box at top you'll find some previous posts about it.
Apologies if you did that already!
Thank you x
Hi narna, Yes I have been taking Simponi for 18 months. I also take Arava (leflunomide) and Methotrexate, and Tramadol, Gabapentin (Neurontin) and Vicodin every 4-6 hours for pain. I think I am as good as it can get, function pretty well, though I know when I over do it!
Previously, I took Humira for a while and Enbrel, but They didn't seem to do much. Simponi is the only one that I can actually say I notice a difference, especially increased stamina, less pain, as long as I take the pain meds regularly. No point in waiting till the pain is bad, then it takes an hour and half before the pain is relieved, so never, never get off the schedule.
I find taking the pain meds first thing in the morning, again at lunch, then dinner and bedtime works very well.
Mtx is once a week. I get no side effects with the injection. Arava is every day and Simponi once a month. Keep to the schedule, have faith and trust and let them work for you. It usually takes 3 monmths or so to notice a difference with the Biologics, so be patient!
Of course, if after 3 months you don't think it is doing anything, You may have to try another combo. But Simponi is regarded as the best alternative when others fail. All the best, Loret
Thanx Loret, I also take mtx once weekly by injection, also sulfazazine and hydroxynchloroquine sulphate, I am waiting for the nurse to get in touch to arrange a home visit, so then I can start simponi, by then the Enbrel should be out my system! The injection site reactions were getting worse and worse, last week it was the size of my leg! And I'm not a skinny person so you can imagine the size of the reaction!!
Thanx for the imformation, take care Narna.
Good luck, hope no more reactions!!
Thank you!
