Having a compound fracture of spine and a new diagnosis of osteoporosis, I have been put on 6 monthly injections of denosumab. Am only asking if the timing is calendar months or 4 weekly months? Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather.

Hi there

Sorry to hear you've joined the fracture club.🙁 Yet another club no-one wants to join. Hope you're not in too much pain.

With regards to the Denosumab, when I was on it the injections were 6 monthly in calendar months, not 4 weekly. Don't know if that's the same for everyone, but that was my experience.

Good luck😊

Thank you Kags. Thought it would be, just needed the reassurance. Yep, joined the club. RA followed by osteoporosis followed by fracture last Christmas period. The word that springs to mind is agony. CoCodimol keeps it manageable. Was fortunate, my physiotherapist referred me to hydrotherapy. Am now standing fairly straight. Continuing with exercise as well. Just to top it all off - managed to get hernia 🤪

I'm pleased that gave you some re-assureance. I don't know about you, but I find a bit of re-assurance can go a long way! Spine fractures are very, very painful.😡 It's frustrating as all you can do is manage the pain until it heals. I'm glad the co-codamol helped.

I'm glad you were able to get hydrotherapy. That can be so helpful. We don't have anywhere locally any more that does it. It's good to be able to stand straight again. It's so important to keep those back muscles as strong as possible (as I've found out the hard way)!🙄

As for getting a hernia, we'll that's just plain greedy.😉 Seriously, I hope it's not causing too many issues.🤞

Best wishes 😊

Have already told my body that. It's ignored me. According to the fracture specialist it's a compound fracture and it won't heal!! Have been told not to carry anything heavy. I live on my own so told him that might be ever such a slight problem 😅🤣 He has given me another appointment in July. Oh, I also have neuropathy in right leg. Bit of icing on the cake, 😏

Not the kind of icing you really want, eh?🙄 Yes, I've had many of those conversations with my body, but it never listens, and then tends to do the opposite! I'm sure it's out to get me!🤔The spinal fracture I had was a wedge compression fracture, but thankfully stable. As far as I'm aware it's healed although I am now about 2-3 inches shorter - grrr😠

it is calendar months. I have been on these injections for 3.5 years now. They changed the criteria to 10 yrs but originally it was 3. x

Thank you Mary. The nurse told me it would be for 10 years, and also because I've already fractured my spine. I count myself lucky as I'm in my 70's.
