Well guys I spoke to rumey nurse and was booked in today for a steroid shot and they have put me on hdry again but this time 300 mg for 5 days! I tried to get into the docs but couldn't. I have an extremely sore throat, it hurts to swollow so it's best not to swollow. The receptionist said she would refer me to the chemist who I saw but he couldn't sort anything and suggested antibiotics. So went back to docs and a miracle an appointment for yesterday. Saw doctor who says it's tonsillitis and strep throat! Got my antibiotics yesterday and last night about 8 pm doc rang up to tell me she has changed my antibiotics for another stronger one. Which I will start in 2 hrs. So it's been a horrible painful week. I can now swollow a little bit but not hungry and even if I was I would be able to eat anything. Before I saw a doctor I took lemsips thinking it was a cold, cough sweet, milk and gavison liquid just to coat my throat. I also was gargling salt water all to no avail! So I hope these antibiotics work and I can be rid of this horrible throat! I did take 2 more days of and went back to work yesterday unbeknown to me that I had strep throat! Jim's funeral is on 12 th july. Thanks for listening sorry it's a long text. Take care.

You're obviously very low after all you've been through Carol. I hope the antibiotics help quickly and that you're soon feeling much better. x
Carol, you need to look after yourself. You’ve been through a lot and now it’s your turn. Don’t do too much.
Oh goodness! I hope your antibiotics work really quickly. Like the others say you have had such a lot to contend with your body must be as low as it can get. Are you able to go to bed and sleep for the weekend?
Just wake up and drink water and take your pills then go back to sleep. Is there anyone who could look after you for the weekend at least? Also have you tried gargling with salt water - or even just swilling your mouth out with sea salt in warm water? That’s my go-to when I have a sore throat / mouth.

perhaps your sore throat is nature’s way of telling you to rest, take time to grieve properly, and look after yourself.

Oh dear Carol. You must be so miserable with everything When I have a sore throat I find that Difflam throat spray helps me. Hopefully the antibiotics will do the job. Take care xx

Hi I have such similar problems, hope you are starting to feel better now, sorry to ask these questions when did you come of the hydroxy ? so you are taking antibiotics at the same time as your steroid injection ? did you have the IM steroid injection into the bottom and how many mg of steroid did they use ? I was wondering if the lack of hydroxy caused throat problems. sometimes a throat infection shows white stuff on the tonsils..although mine does not. GP does not think it's infection but it has other Pharyngitis symptoms that could be infection.
I don't think anyone really knows what's going on with me.
Hi lindyloo, I came off hdry about 2 months ago around about when I got more pain than I had before I came off it! I have no idea how much the steroids shot was in my bum! And yes I had just started the antibiotics that day of the steroids shot. I hope you get sorted and you start to feel better soon. My infection went yesterday and I could at least eat something. I lost over 8 lbs in weight. Take care. 😐
Hello thanks, did they restart your hydroxy or change your other meds to fix the problem?
it takes hydroxy 50 days to leave the body , that's when I started showing more pain too but at the moment they have just upped my methotrexate instead which I am not happy about.
it shows you can take steroids whilst on aantobiotics, I am guessing that you were on a weeks course of antibiotics?
