Another lockdown coming?

I have just had a message from Sainsbury’s saying they have been asked by the Government to continue prioritising me for deliveries because I am CEV. I wonder if they are forward planning for the next lockdown!

Hi Pat9442, I also received the same email too, this afternoon…Who knows, but rates are definitely rising at present. We just have to be sensible, as previously to keep ourselves safe🤗 Steph😘

Hi I received this email too, as well as from Tesco the other day advising me that they will continue to keep me as a priority customer. Asda emailed me last week to advise me that my priority slot will be ending at the end of August. I am so appreciative of these services living on my own so am really pleased that both Sainsburys and Tesco will keep me on their priority register. I didn’t think of it as a lockdown coming necessarily and just an update to us about the services going forward x

Yes I think you’re right. xx

Yes I have had the same 3 e-mails, was thinking of dropping Asda anyway as I can get more of what I want from Sainsbury's and Tesco. I too have really appreciated their services and to be honest I don't think I want to go back to shopping instore, trolleys bumping into you and then queueing at the checkouts and less time consuming having it delivered.😊

Maybe they are thinking ahead. I’m CEV and was registered with them and Ocado. There was also talk on some newspaper pages online last week that with all the pinging for isolating that it might start to affect product/supply chain again in the supermarkets. I got a couple of messages similar a couple of weeks ago to yours from other supermarkets/delivery company re priority CEV customer.

I've just read about the effect it's having in supermarkets and that they are having problems re stocking shelves. I just hope we don't get the panic buying like we did last year 🙄

Any hint of it and the locusts will strip the supermarkets bare. 😑😢

Just had the news on- boy are they really going on about empty shelves in supermarkets and potential shortages. They seem to take great delight in stirring it up🙄

Maybe. Maybe not. But it's at least a recognition towards the CEV people that still feel that it's to risky for them to go out in the general public just yet.

No I got one too and think it's an advertising ploy to attract trade.

Exactly!

I do my dad shopping for him online (tesco) and the first time ever this week it was cancelled on the day he was due to get it due to "problems at the store"

Hes not on the priority list but he should be as he's CEV, think I will try and register him for these priority deliveries then.

Things are changing out there and not for the better

Hi Can I ask you how you plan on registering at the supermarket I am CEV and have never been offered this service.

Thanks

Dee x

Hey Dee

I think your GP has to put you on a CEV list I think, so I will remind my dads GP to included him.

Them you ring tesco amd set up an account I think. He's the tesco page for it

Hi Ahhh thank you I'll give it a go xxx

I joined their regular deliveries one at £7.00 a month and you have 3 deliveries a month it saves you money. I do get the CEV priority but as a regular shopper the one hour slot was better for me.

I rang tescos and asked to be registered for priority slots and they added the option to my delivery account there and then

Around here thats North Kent we were told its not issues in picking but both the cheaper supermarkets like Lidl and Aldi one are going on line and some Tesco drivers have gone over to them as paying more.

I’ve had the same from Iceland. I think they’re planning ahead. In my opinion, they want the boost the summer holidays gives the economy and then will deal with autumn and whatever restrictions are necessary. I actually quite enjoy being a hermit now!

I think you’re right. I’m in the US, which has been open for awhile. It seems like we’re at a point where politicians are kind of prioritizing livelihoods over the potential benefits of continued restrictions like capacity limits, distancing, physical barriers, etc. (Sadly, health officials dropped masking advisories just as Delta started ripping through the world.) Maybe they think that everyone eligible for vaccination has had a chance to get it, and now it’s time to let businesses do more and reward the vaccinated? I don’t know. From the beginning, I wish that we had worked harder to prevent SARS-CoV-2 from becoming endemic—to eradicate it, but that isn’t the path we seem to have taken. Focus seems to have been on limiting numbers of deaths and not overwhelming hospitals so people can get other healthcare.

Health officials here are finally speaking more regularly on the ongoing vulnerability of immunocompromised people post-vaccination. So, I think they’re trying to acknowledge publicly that opening up isn’t safe for everyone. A doctor interviewed for a National Geographic article recently advised that the immune compromised get vaccinated but act unvaccinated.

All supermarkets are doing it. I don't believe there's an agenda. It's not the first time this has been updated.

Asda drops me from August. Reading these replies I’ll try to move to Sainsbury’s.Thank you

They’re still doing deliveries though, I don’t understand why you can’t still get them to deliver?

trunchalobesity profile image

They will deliver if clinically extremely vulnerable people can get new slots but they are withdrawing the priority slots people have had. Tesco’s and Sainsburys are continuing them.

I fear it is inevitable!

How odd then that in my local Sainsbury’s store they were removing the plastic screens between the self checkout tills this week!

Neonkittie17 profile image

Tesco sent an email last week saying the traffic light system and spacing and plastic screens will remain.

Radio Two news at 11am said that there are likely to be shortages on supermarket shelves (and there will be if they announced that on national news) but it was also in the Sunday Times too. I expect locusts this weekend if not before. 😑

Lucky you, I am in that group and Asda have said they will not continue with mine after August! not happy with them at all xx

Am I not understanding this, you can still get deliveries though can’t you? You haven’t been banned 😊

Poshcards profile image
Poshcards in reply to KittyJ

Not banned, but I have to complete and pay for a new pass, been with them 18 months and relied totally on them, then they tell us it will end as a priority, I still will not enter any shops

I agree me too, I’ll move now to Sainsburys

I think its inevitable that we will all get it at some point like flu, the the one killed millions in 1918 is still here and yet we live with it and of course get vaccines too. x

Hi… to add to the above… I get deliveries from Morrisons.. pay for a yearly pass (?£30?). I can’t remember if I have priority or not 😂.. I got the email off Asda… I only buy a few things from them, and very rarely, as when I needed priority (ie. at christmas)..it didn’t apply… they also did a ‘free’ delivery about once and then started charging…..

I'd shopped for years with Sainsbury's like their jeans and could not get a delivery for love nor money. So I voted with there wheels and been using Tesco now since Jan 2020 I bought a pass for the hour slot and saved the points and now am using them on their cottages.com partner for a weekend away in September. Tesco have been great, few swaps and I reckon there Finest Range is great. I can have a slot for Ocado apparently ? they emailed me to offer one but I'm happy with Tesco, our local butcher and the Farm Shop both do deliver too.

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply to medway-lady

Tesco Finest is really good. We buy those mostly and I’ve always shopped with Tesco. Ocado .. well, you can get M&S via it 😍 but I haven't used my account yet as I could only get on it recently but will do I’m sure soon!

I have had the emails from Sainsbury's and Waitrose saying they will still give me priority. I also had the one from ASDA saying my priority pass is ending at th end of this month, but I am grateful as they were able to deliver to us from the Spring last year. I will most likely continue with ASDA (as well as Sainsbury's) and have one of ASDA's delivery passes.
