I thought that I am just going into a flare as my joints are more stiff and painful now. So is it 5he hot weather? Hate it now 😒

in reply to Lina282

It really effects me but others do really well in heat. I’m much better in cold weather but sudden changes in weather triggers niggles for me

I can't move my joints in cold and I can't put on enough clothes to tolerate the cold and now I can't tolerate the warmer weather either??..so what is the solution then? Difficult isn't it? 😏😬

There no hope for you 🥺😜😂

Ugh - I'm with you - I don't like the hot weather at all. It's been getting so hot up here in Surrey the past few years we had to cave in and buy a portable aircon to whack on when we're desperate. It was 34 here last year! It's 'only' going to be 26 today - but after being stuck indoors for weeks, that feels boiling.

Windows closed, curtains drawn on the sunny side and plan to move as little as possible. Meanwhile, my sun loving neighbours are bronzing themselves and getting in a hot tub :) I am envious - always wanted to be able to enjoy the sun and revel in it, rather than get heatrash and faint, but my pasty Irish ancestors were obviously designed for living in leafy northern climes. :D

in reply to dawkin_S

Yes Irish ancestors have a lot to answer for my Irish red head cousins ( RA free) really suffer

On the plus side, I'm happily skipping around in the winter when my fellow female co-workers are freezing cold - they even get too cold with the aircon at work. Also, gloomy days and rain don't get me down. Maybe I just need to move further North...🤔

Bonus having RA is being nice and warm in the winter. Children at school call me their radiator as my hands a lovely and warm in the playground. Hubby not so happy sleep with no heating on windows wide open summer duvet on bed. One year he bought a thermometer 🌡 and was heard muttering it’s only bloody 6 degrees in here 😂

I love the heat. We will be selling our bungalow here in sunny West Yorkshire. Wanna swap?

I would, but my landlord might have something to say 😂

Ah yes, my other half went to Stockport to study Art and Design many years ago - he may have mentioned that it rained a little bit in Manchester. :) He loved it there though - great times.

I enjoy 'weather' of all sorts, always have done. Thunder storms are electrifying (lol), hailstones incredible, snow = playtime, but I find heat oppressive.

Same here. It really helps my joints and it’s the only time I feel properly warm to my core. I don’t tolerate winter well at all since getting RA.

I’m better in the warmth not so much the sun itself. Can’t stand the cold I shrivel up & can’t move. I have to say my feet were rather swollen last night though.

Can’t tolerate the heat either, curtains drawn, staying inside today. Don’t speak to me I’m the Pilsbury dough man and I’m really grumpy🙁

The heat is one thing the extreme heat is another thing altogether. The extreme heat makes me sluggish and slow an no energy. xxx

That's one hell of a description. Breaded or battered?

in reply to

Either it’s not pretty😁

in reply to

I am now singing puff the magic dragon as my joints just puffed up WOW

in reply to

It’s a sight to behold. It’s really quite exaggerated isn’t it

in reply to

Oh yes was on the phone and could feel all the joints puffing away

I'm opposite, the heat I find has a soothing effect. However, the cold and damp weather is debilitating for me. I've even considered moving to warmer climates. How strange that the disease for many of us has similarities, but not in others. Again the medications also. However, we are all unique. Been out for a sneaky walk this morning with the dawn chorus so that I can maintain my sanity. Hope you all have a good day, whatever is in the agenda. Me, working g from my dining room. Now in my 12th week. Like so many others. Loving not having to travel, saves so much time.

I shouldn’t laugh, but that description conjures up exactly how I feel too 😂. I used to describe myself as resembling the Michelin Man (if anyone can remember that far back). He was a cartoon character who had layers of tyres on him, rounding up in the middle and less at both ends.

Before any confusion arises, I’m not suggesting eating puff balls, although they aren’t poisonous. After they ripen and “puff up”, they shrivel into the brown wrinkled fungus that gave them their name; puff balls. I’ve never seen a plant that produces such a lot of spores. As kids living in the country we used to love standing on them.

Yes my left foot and ankle know the heat is on, so to speak! It’s swollen red and itchy and bursting out of my shoe. Started when the temperature rose. Anything over 20 degrees and it’s blubber. Fluid which goes as soon as I lay down or raise feet bit annoying. Always the same each year.

MadBunny profile image

Yep my feet and ankles ballooned too. Even my usually comfortable flip flops are tight.

Hard to know what to do when your widest shoes won’t fit. 😑

Yeah I’m just the same have so much fluid in my ankles and legs if you put a pin in it I’m sure it would water the garden. Doesn’t help to ice it drink more water or raise my legs. Age old problem of many years during hot weather so you’re not on your own. Could be worse though wouldn’t fancy it being in the depths of winter or peeing it down with rain coz that’s worse as far as pain in concerned in my case.
