Wet weather & ra flare

Hi,

I’ve been well controlled on hydroxychloroquine since September but this weekend I think I’m having a flare. Shoulders, hands, ankles all hurt & are stiff. Could it be the wet weather? any connection? Had a bit of work stress recently, can’t think of any other cause for the flare. Worst when resting. Sitting watching the tv this eve and wondering why everything is hurting....

As soon as it rains the pain and swelling is worse or hot and humid too. A lot of us are like this😳

It could be the weather as high humidity and low pressure affect me. Even worse if there are strong winds as well.

😱What weather can we tolerate? ☁️⛅⛈🌤🌦🌈🌞🌪🤣Sorry, had to do that...I do agree with you though 😊 Warm, sunny and long days are good for me x

Yes, long, warm, sunny days are good but I’m like Deebs and find that very hot, steamy weather affects me much the same as cold and damp which seems weird. Think my body must swell with the heat.

I wonder if it’s because our bodies tense up in the sort of weather we’re having at the moment or maybe it’s because we don’t move around as much as we do in good weather. Anyway, I feel I’d just love to hibernate from now until Spring.

Weather can affect it but also RA likes stress, it seems to feed off it. Also, have you been overdoing it with housework etc lately?

I've never been able to relate my flare-ups to the weather, but that doesn't mean it is not!

Hi sunny seas!

Personally I’ve never had any issues with weather. Seems to make no difference. However, stress definitely can trigger flares. Apparently cytokines are released which cause pain.

Hydroxychloroquine did work for me at first but had to change to Methotrexate as the former gave me itchy rashes.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear that, I think most of us totally understand what you are going through. I take Hydroxychloroquine for RA too but also have Fibromyalgia. Perhaps you have it too 😥 Have a word with your doctor x
