Not just in the UK. I'm 1.5 hrs north of Paris and spring/summer seems to arrive later each year. We seem to get a couple of sunny days followed by weeks of rain. Not good for the moral.

Not only in Europe, but in south western Canada too. This wet rainy weather is so annoying. I'm usually at the beach in mid May, but this year it seems more like November. grr

The beach sounds good I will just imagine I'm there ! I did get some sun in March on a trip to the states & felt great in Arizona & Narvada nice dry air

in reply to burtonbradstock

Last week we got to 25 degrees C for a day. Then wham! Thunder & hail. The rest of the week was rainy :(

I hardly dare to write this......I have spent the last week lying by a pool in 80f temperatures in South Tenerife! Only downside is very, very strong winds.....everything has to be battened down or it ends up,spiralling into the pool.

I return to UK next week...so will try to bring warmth & sunshine with me!

Bring it over here. It's supposed to be 25C tomorrow

Jealous! Me! Not half. If you weren't so nice, I could go off you

nomoreheels profile image
nomoreheels

No, & I'm boasting because it doesn't often happen here in the NW but we've had really good weather except for a couple of days when it's rained a bit & been overcast! 🌞🌦 Seriously though damp & humidity are my worst types of weather so I can understand your poor joints letting you know about it. The S is due better weather next week according to the long range weather forecast so hopefully you'll start to feel a bit better soon.

in reply to nomoreheels

It's the Victoria day long weekend here and the weather network says hot and sunny. I think they are lying...grr

AgedCrone profile image
AgedCrone in reply to

Don't be so pessimistic Suzanne...drag out your Cozzie, pack a picnic & get off to the beach! You can always wrap up in a blanket!

in reply to AgedCrone

It's supposed to be hot this weekend. How do you spend Victoria day?

AgedCrone profile image
AgedCrone in reply to

I don't think they have heard of Victoria Day here in Tenerife Suzanne.....altho there are thousands of Brits who have retired here.....about 1% of whom have learned Spanish!

Hope you do get a sunny weekend.

I'm just about to have breakfast ...it's 0730 here, and I'm seriously worried as there are clouds in the sky!!!

in reply to AgedCrone

It 11:49pm here...and I'm holding on to my youth...oh it's a struggle...lol.....in 11 minutes I'll be a year older....

Enjoy the Canary Islands

AgedCrone in reply to

Happy Birthday Suzanne...you've got a LONG way to go to catch me up!

I love my little visits to these Islands, But I would definitely not want to live here full time.

Those clouds are getting blacker ....guess it's going to be a Duvet day....thank goodness for my iPad & movies on line!

in reply to AgedCrone

It's gonna be beautiful here

dtech in reply to AgedCrone

Nope. I'd never heard of Victoria Day. Celebrating the queen Victoria? Lake Victoria?

in reply to dtech

Really? You Brits don't celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday? For real?

dtech profile image
dtech in reply to

Nope. Or any other kings or queensday.

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli in reply to dtech

But we celebrate those who tried to blow up the houses of parliament.

in reply to dtech

Quiet dtech & Gnarli...ssh..Please don't let the Canadian government know this. We love this holiday here!!

Eiram50 profile image
Eiram50 in reply to dtech

Dtech -

you don't know your celebrations! Of course we have Victoria's day in Britain?

dtech profile image
dtech in reply to Eiram50

I'm ready to be educated. When is Victoria's day

Eiram50 profile image
Eiram50 in reply to dtech

Victoria Day is a public holiday in parts of Eastern Central Scotland, chiefly the cities of Dundee and Edinburgh, although it was formerly more widespread. It is celebrated on the last Monday before or on 24 May and commemorates Queen Victoria's birthday (24 May 1819).

dtech profile image
dtech in reply to Eiram50

Well, well. I rang a friend in Dundee, as I had never heard of it. They have it on the spring bank holidayMonday. So this year they have it on the 29th may. I thought you Scots got an extra bank holidayas well as the extra one to recover from Hogmanay πŸ˜‰

Eiram50 profile image
Eiram50 in reply to dtech

Didn't you know? Every day is Hogmanay for us scots!

Eiram50 profile image
Eiram50 in reply to dtech

It also, your friends not up

To date as it's today 22nd may)- it's the Monday nearest the 24 th may, every year. Best let your friend know lest he has plans for a day off next Monday!

The way education is going here kids soon won't even know who she was!

Very sad state of affairs.

in reply to AgedCrone

All the kids here know & celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday. I'm really surprised you Brits don't. Lot's of fireworks, picnics and the 1st summer camping weekend of the year.

Eiram50 profile image
Eiram50 in reply to

We do have a holiday on Victoria's day in Britain ?!

in reply to Eiram50

Apparently not Marie. Though I really think you should.

Eiram50 profile image
Eiram50 in reply to

In Scotland we do - honestly. We celebrated it with the Monday holiday yesterday.

burtonbradstock profile image
burtonbradstock in reply to dtech

The sun has got his hat on β˜€οΈπŸ˜ much better, I'm off to see my consultant strange it's on a Saturday again. I need something for pain as that vodka helped briefly last night but not recommended on RA meds πŸ˜†

dtech profile image
dtech in reply to burtonbradstock

Apparently the sun will only have his hat on until midday, when he will put it back on and p**s on us again.😏

And yes. A consultant on a Saturday?? Must be private.

burtonbradstock profile image
burtonbradstock in reply to dtech

Not private nhs & much less waiting time on Saturday so that's great.

dtech profile image
dtech in reply to burtonbradstock

Blimey! They don't do Saturday clinics here in Hertfordshire that I know of. Or at least the rheumy ones don't.

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli in reply to dtech

They do in Mid Yorks for some clinics. It was so quiet I swear I saw tumble weed bowling down the corridor. In and out in less than half an hour. I was stunned!

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli in reply to dtech

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but, it's lots actually

dtech profile image
dtech in reply to Gnarli

Oh! There you go then. Never thought about it really as I always go mid week. Mid yorks. Not kings mill hospital by any chance?

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli in reply to dtech

That was at Pinderfields for something else but Rheumy is at Pontefract. Or rather, what's left of it.

AgedCrone profile image

Just had wipe out Monday Tues weds I am sure it's partly the weather to blame. I did overdo things a bit last week though as well.

burtonbradstock profile image
burtonbradstock in reply to Paulajolo

Take it easy, I've just had a steroid injection in my shoulder & been told to rest for 2 days but it sure is nice looking at the sunshine through the windows πŸ‘

dtech profile image
dtech in reply to burtonbradstock

I had mine in the bum on Monday. Feeling a lot better now. Hope yours works the same.

Paulajolo profile image
Paulajolo

I will be having mine in Tuesday. Can't wait last one wornight off 2 weeks ago. Lol.

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli

My tablets all worn off and, if it's synovial, it's blooming sore. Rheumy nurse next Friday though. She may have something nice and chemical for me

Jan

dtech profile image
dtech in reply to Gnarli

I'm trying to remember where the word 'Gnarli' or Gnarly comes from. I've heard it used before somewhere.πŸ€”

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli in reply to dtech

Common parlance or slang meaning unpleasantly knobbly or gnarled. Usually spelled with a y. Pretentious, moi?

dtech profile image
dtech

Upped my mtx to 20mg a week too 😏

dtech profile image
dtech

Still, like I say, the steroid shot has worked. I can now complete a full golf swing without getting stuck half way. New driver arriving tomorrow, so need some practice with it before my weeks golf holiday with my son in Portugal. Probably need another steroid after that! πŸ˜‚

AgedCrone profile image
AgedCrone

Go for it D tech...it was my plan to play golf when I retired ...so what joints are really affected ? Got it it in one...my ruddy wrists!

So sadly I just lie by the pool pretending I am either Serena Williams (tennis was my first love) or Rory Wotsisname!!!!

Enjoy Portugal!

dtech profile image
dtech in reply to AgedCrone

So far so lucky re the golf for me. Oddly enough my rheumy consultant said I had to stop playing squash, but golf was ok.

Never liked tennis, that's my wife's passion. She goes all over the place watching tournaments. She's Just got home from the Madrid open. Then next week off to Roland Garros for the French open.

AgedCrone profile image
AgedCrone in reply to dtech

I can't even hold a full tea cup,let alone a tennis racquet or a golf club.....but I'm on RTX & almost pain free, so I spoil myself with trips to the sun in the winter & am very grateful that I can travel & enjoy life again

AC

dtech profile image

That's great. So do we. Enjoy it while we can😊
