Anyone struggling with this hot weather?

After such a hard winter for us all, like everyone else, I've been so glad of the sunshine these past few weeks. However, since its gone really hot and humid, I feel like I've been thrown right back into a 'winter' flare up! We haven't had any of the thunderstorms that the rest of the UK have had but I wish we had! Its hot, humid and muggy day after day and my pain and fatigue levels have been really bad the past two weeks. Is anyone else feeling the same or is just me? the only painkillers that are giving me any relief is trashing my hands and feet with stinging nettles!! I still waiting for a date for an operation on my wrist and elbow so I don't know whether its just the pain from them that's flaring me up or the weather? I'm on Benepali plus Tramadol, Nefopam and Paracetamol. Hope you're all okay tho xxx

Totally agree, most people on here get some relief in the hot weather. Personally, hot weather leads to me feeling, more inflamed and I'm definitely better when it's a little cooler. Hope you feel better soon.

Hello Ellilu,

I can empathise. I think my body has been in a permanent flare for the past year and definitely does get worse with the changes in the weather. I love the sunshine and feeling its warmth, but alas it doesn’t like me. My swelling, aches and pains are at least 10 times worse when it’s hot. Today while all my neighbours had BBQs, and were basking in the sun, my daughter and I just lay on the sofa with the patio doors open enjoying the cool breeze. Neither of us would dear venture outside for fear of becoming ‘tweedle dum and tweedle dee’.

In saying this, there are other things that do also contribute to my flares, change in medication, stress, lack of sleep, working 50-60 weeks and not spending time for myself and relaxing. I’ve had to learn it the hard way. Nicole has to be no.1 because even though I love my kids if I’m not well, I can’t be at my best for them.

Take care, it does get better sometimes and when I do have those odd good moments, I now appreciate them much more than I ever did before.

Thank you so much for your reply but I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling so much. It must be extra hard when you've got to look after your kids too. I'm very selfish that way cos I'm on my own so can't begin to imagine how hard it must be for you.

I've had some good days when its been dry heat - almost had a couple of 'wow, I feel normal' moments but this humid heat is definitely NOT a happy weather system for this old rheumy body...LOL!

You take care and give yourself 'permission' to relax when you can. xxx

Oh yes! Everyone says, your pain must be better now it’s warm, oh no! Humidity is the worst, plus I get itchy around my face & neck, I also have osteo, & waiting for a knee replacement. I have three dogs, they need walking every day ( which I love) live in a village with beautiful walks, so do count my blessing, but, please let’s have some cool breezes! I would even welcome snow right now❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ Hope you feel better soon, oh have found sea air helpful if you live near enough!

That’s interesting, my neck & face have been unbelievably itchy for the last couple of days.

Yes I flare in the heat & my joints especially my feet get very swollen & painful 😖.

Interesting Caza that you've got the itching too! Glad to say I haven't got that too but know too well the swollen feet thing. Rubbish isn't it? Take care and rest up xx

I know that conversation!! 'Oh you must be better now the sun is out"...LOL! Funny you mention the snow because those cold crisp snow blue skied filled days were great for me too! I've got two doggies and also live in a village but bless them, they've only been getting short walks but they don't complain. I'm off to the East Coast of Scotland next week and am soooo looking forward to taking in that sea air...always feel better near the sea. Take care and thanks for replying. hope that itching stops and really hope you get your knee done soon! Elli xx

Hi,

Yes, I can totally relate to what you are saying about this humid weather which is playing havoc with my joints. Feel I'm ready to turn to stone as I am so stiff 😢

Hope the weather lifts a bit soon so we can all get some relief. I find a dry heat is great but humid weather - horrible.

Feel better soon x
