Surgery checking up phone call

Just had an unexpected phone call from Gp surgery asking how I’m coping with lockdown and was I struggling with my RA. Explained I’ve been taken off methotrexate and starting to get a bit of gip . Asked did I have enough meds said I’m running low on Etoricoxib. Upshot Gp will call me in the morning to see if there’s more they can do. Mentioned I can’t get a shopping slot and not recognised on gov. Site. They gave me a telephone number and confirmed I’m on the vulnerable list which is why they will continue to be in contact with me.

My surgery not known for being proactive very surprised but happy to know I’m on their radar

must admit i had a call from the gp as well she had recieved a letter from the specialist to say i should shield and the first thing she said are you alright for food and how are your meds . but then i do have some friends who have had the total opersite so it does depend on what surgery/gp you have . and yes i am climbing the wall luckily i do have a garden that i can sit in but i feel for people in high rises where ever they are , I mean we have a family two doors down and we have said to them they can use my garden for the kids to play ( they dont have one) as long as i am not outside .

Wow that's such positive news and to feel recognised that you are on the radar and will keep in contact with you what a proactive thing. So refreshing to hear this good news and I bet it makes you feel supported. x

Yes your right. People with chronic disease have unfortunately been left to one side. Can understand why but just saying lock yourself away makes you feel forgotten and a nuisance when you need help. I think a lot of chronically ill people are not asking for help and the medics have realised. So now are more proactive.

My surgery called on Tuesday, a doctor from the practice, checking up on all the patients who are shielding. She asked if I had any symptoms of the virus, how was I coping, did I have enough food and support from friends, family. They have already sent me tablets in place of my B12 injections to save me from going out. All very reassuring. X

It's good to know that you are not forgotten, J1707. Well done to your GPs for being proactive

Great news - hope they're able to help you with meds

Well that's a result. So you may get your meds sorted after all. Good that your GP surgery is on the ball.

I got a call from the council to check up on me. I think people are beginning to catch up with the people who are vulnerable or being shielded.

It must have been a collosal effort to filter out 1.5 million people for shielding. I can understand why some slipped through the net. Let's hope things pick up from here.

I got a call from my GP today as well asking me how I was and how I was coping with shielding. I thought this was really thoughtful of her :-) I said I'm coping fine.

She then said I did not need to be shielding and social distancing would be fine !! She said the government pulled info from hospitals and me being on Methotrexate injections put me in the shielding category when it on its own was not enough to put me in shielding.

I reminded her I was also asthmatic. She said yes but its under control.

She said I would get another letter telling me this !!

Last week I finally managed to get priority asda shopping delivery set up which was a great relief as getting shopping has been stressful. (Sitting up half the night waiting for delivery slots to come available !) I asked if I would lose this? She said if I do dont worry, just give her a call and she would pop me back on the shielding list !!!!!

Confusing or what ? I now feel a fraud having asked people to get me shopping :-(

My GP number is usually withheld too... told them I usually block or won’t respond to such calls but it won’t make a difference; they’re also protecting themselves, so if I am expecting a call, I do pick up.

GPS have been advised to phone and check on all shielding patients to check they are ok and know what they are supposed to be doing. Nil heard here.

Not heard a peep from my GP. To be honest, I’ve probably only seen the GP twice in four years.

Like buses that all come at once, I’ve had three calls in two days from social services, council and someone else checking I’m ok. Which I am. Apparently, some people are in a very poor way, particularly mentally and it’s lovely that people are checking them to see how they are.

Just had a phone call from gp this morning asking me If I had received my shielding letter( which I did about a fortnight ago) and to ask if I had registered for shopping slots etc.i told gp I had but didn’t require anything as at the moment husband was seeing to shopping as he was on furlough.she also said did I know if I developed any symptoms I was to call 111 right away and let them know I was in the shielding category.good that they are double checking, but every time it’s reaffirmed i feel a lit more uneasy.
