Finally got a date for ACDF surgery

I think my very long chat to the surgical nurse and explaining it wasn't just a matter of popping in for the surgery, that may have changed things. I explained about having to stop the biologic at least 4 weeks before surgery, go off my blood thinners and inject clexane 3 days before and various other considerations and she pencilled me in. I got a call confirming I am in on 27 April. So happy to finally get a date and hope it works and stops the trapped nerves. Now to get everything ready in the next two weeks.

It’s good that you’ve got a date so you can get organised. Will be thinking of you.

No and I had a big issue come up last Thursday that may not be resolved until after I am away, so I need to have everything in place for the person who is looking after my work to help manage it. I will be so stressed about that I won't have time to stress about anything else

Hi there , glad you have a date and are all organised, makes a difference! Im due to have disc shaved 27 th April , I haven’t had rituximab since July, next dose was due on the 27th as well but will have to wait until wound is well healed . My wbc has been low since August, it keeps going up and down. The last one was still low so was told to have it checked two days before surgery, if it’s any lower surgery will be cancelled. Its a mine field co - ordinating biologics / bloods/ surgery. I was ok about it until the pre op assessment with The anaesthetist yesterday , now anxious that it will be cancelled. I will be thinking about you on the 27 th , I hope all goes well and that the trapped nerves are released, very best wishes xx

Oh I hope your wbc goes up and stays up for you. I hate this juggling stuff when we go for any surgery. Makes it so hard on our bodies to be off meds and dealing with flares on top of surgery. Recovery is a bit tougher. I will do some positive affirmations for you too and convince those wbc to stay up for you. Let me know how you go and all the best with positive thoughts that it will happen.
