Thanks for this dawkin x
Be careful and read this to the end. I recognised one group of volunteers and it does say it is not working with Police, Local Government etc so check out who your giving personnel information too. I'd suggest never giving out details over the phone especially if your alone. Thieves and scammers still are operating normally. I can see that it is probably well meaning people but some may not be well meaning , so please be careful and never give out your bank details or pay by phone unless your certain the person on the other end is who they say they are. Here the GP's are organising prescriptions and the Local Authority is contacting people on the Vulnerable list and delivering foodboxes. So perhaps ring your Council and ask who in your area is helping and if they are on this list great, if not then think twice.
Yes of course, good tip - it's a shame but there are always people willing to take advantage.
Even worse NO DBS's the NHS. SAMS have to prove id. and are DBS'd. I did it !and its so easy to produce a website it can look official but may not be. And feeding into it whose checked ? My point was just be careful really. Better to make a phone call to an 'official body" like a Council than have your prescription nicked and your bank account emptied.

Asda are doing a special card seems a better idea than giving cash. Btw - I neither work for nor have shares in Asda😁:
Volunteer Shopping Card
Let’s make tough times that little bit easier …
Not being able to get to the shops for your essentials is hard. Especially in the current situation. That’s why we’ve created the Volunteer Shopping Card, the cashless - and less stressful - way for people to help get the shopping in. Ideal for those who might be self-isolating, older or medically vulnerable, the Volunteer Shopping Card provides a contactless, safe and secure way to allow others to shop for them.
If you have to stay at home
The Volunteer Shopping Card is great because it’s easy to:
buy online
send to your volunteer or print and leave for them in a safe place
stay secure—no bank or credit card details are exchanged
be safer as you’re not handing over cash
Can be topped with extra funds online
If you’re volunteering
The Volunteer Shopping Card is ideal because:
you’re not exchanging cash
you’re still able to help, whilst minimising risk for you both
you don’t need to know the person’s bank or credit card details
you can use the card contactlessly in-store using a barcode
How it works
The Volunteer Shopping Card can be bought easily online
It can then be emailed to the volunteer or printed out and left in a safe place for the volunteer to pick up
The volunteer then shops using the card, makes the payment using the barcode in store, and leaves the shopping in a safe place
So easy, so why not try it today! Get your Volunteer Shopping Card NOW
